Dennis Smith Takes New York

Bombs away in New York!

With the Knicks officially shipping Kristaps Porzingis to the Mavericks, not only does a beautiful Porzingis-Luka Doncic pairing (Porz’oncic?) begin to form, but there’s also a full blown fantasy mess to sort out in New York.

Dennis Smith, DeAndre Jordan, and Wesley Matthews are heading north, and the name to keep an eye on is (obviously) Smith. Jordan’s tenure in New York -- and Matthews’ too for that matter -- could be short-lived with a potential for buyouts.

Smith will get the keys to the offense in New York, and while it may not lead to the most efficient production, this move makes for a massive spike in the point guard’s fantasy value. We can expect a higher price tag moving forward now that Smith’s the focal point away from Doncic, but this could be a fun ride that offers nice upside based on usage and volume.

And as a distant afterthought, I’ll also be keeping tabs on Allonzo Trier, assuming the Knicks want to see what they have in their young players as they attempt to play for this summer's top draft pick.

The new-look Knicks take on the Celtics tonight, followed by games against the Grizzlies and Pistons.
