Staff Fantasy Basketball Draft Recap: Analysis of Our 12-Team Head-to-Head League
We here at numberFire talk the talk when it comes to fantasy sports, but some of you might wonder how well we walk the walk. In the interest of putting our money where our undeniably big mouths are, we decided to take a break from doling out fantasy basketball advice hand over fist to hold our own fake hoops draft. The results of this draft will make up the teams for the inaugural season of the numberFire Hoops Writers League, which you will likely find us trash talking about perpetually on Twitter all season long.
Our league is a 12-teamer, made up entirely of guys who write about the NBA and fantasy basketball here at the site. It's a head-to-head league that uses the default Yahoo settings for scoring (nine categories) and team size (13 players, 10 of which start).
Here's the randomly assigned draft order we followed (click on a writer's name to browse his recently released content):
Pick | Writer |
---|---|
1 | Mike Hurley |
2 | Shae Cronin |
3 | Brett Weisband |
4 | Bryan Mears |
5 | Kyle Stanzel |
6 | Russell Peddle |
7 | Mike Comerford |
8 | Daniel Lindsey |
9 | Brett Oswalt |
10 | Galin Dragiev |

12 | Sam Hauss |
Without further ado, let's take a look at what went down in the draft.
