Daily Fantasy Basketball Injury Report: Friday 1/27/17
Welcome to ball night! The NBA is king on Fridays, and with a stacked 10-game slate, there are, unfortunately, plenty of injuries to go around.
Knowing them and their consequences can be the difference between winning and losing your daily fantasy games on a night like this.
Notable Injuries
Orlando Magic
The Orlando Magic are still dealing with a ton of injuries to their guard depth, but Evan Fournier and D.J. Augustin went through parts of practice and are labeled questionable for tonight. If neither play, C.J. Watson should draw another start.
San Antonio Spurs
Kawhi Leonard missed two games, but he practiced yesterday and is listed as questionable. I think he'll play tonight with Gregg Popovich downplaying the injury, but double check to make sure. Jonathon Simmons practiced yesterday but is still listed as doubtful for some reason. However, Tony Parker will play tonight for the San Antonio Spurs.
Charlotte Hornets
Cody Zeller and Jeremy Lamb are both still listed as questionable for tonight's game. If Zeller misses again, look for Spencer Hawes to be in play tonight, while Marco Belinelli should continue his minutes bump if Lamb is out.
Philadelphia 76ers
Joel Embiid is questionable on Friday after missing a couple of games, but he did go through shootaround, which is a nice sign. The Philadelphia 76ers will get back Jahlil Okafor, but unless Embiid doesn't play, he isn't in consideration tonight.
Memphis Grizzlies
Both Chandler Parsons and JaMychal Green are expected to play on Friday night. Troy Daniels is a game-time decision, but his status won't affect too much for the Memphis Grizzlies.
Anthony Davis, New Orleans Pelicans
Anthony Davis says he expects to play on Friday. With all of his injuries -- and after missing one game and only playing 16 minutes against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday -- double check his status later this evening.
Derrick Rose, New York Knicks
The New York Knicks were probably scared to death after Derrick Rose came up limping on Wednesday, but after leaving, he soon returned to the game. It doesn't appear serious, but more information on the injury is unknown at this time, so keep an eye out for updates tonight.
Hassan Whiteside, Miami Heat
Hassan Whiteside will not play on Friday night, so it will be the Willie Reed show at center for the Miami Heat. He is an excellent source of value in DFS.
DeMar DeRoan, Toronto Raptors
DeMar DeRozan is also out again on Friday night, meaning the combination of Norman Powell, Terrence Ross, and Cory Joseph should all see some more run tonight. Powell and Joseph seem to be the best plays at this point.
Eric Gordon, Houston Rockets
Eric Gordon was a surprise scratch on Wednesday, and he is doubtful for tonight. Corey Brewer and Sam Dekker get the biggest boost in playing time, while Ryan Anderson could see a few more shots too.
Lesser Injuries
Portland Trail Blazers
Maurice Harkless is questionable tonight, while Ed Davis has already been ruled out. If Harkless is unable to go, Evan Turner will benefit the most.
Brooklyn Nets
Trevor Booker is sick and will not play tonight, while Joe Harris is also out. Justin Hamilton is a risky play even if he starts in Booker's place.
Mike Muscala, Atlanta Hawks
Mike Muscala has been out for nearly two weeks, but he is a game-time decision tonight. He likely won't play too much even if he does suit up though. Mike Scott and Kris Humphries get slight bumps if he is out again.
