5 Daily Fantasy Basketball Value Plays for 3/3/17

Brandon Ingram's growth will be tested tonight in a high-scoring matchup. Which other low-cost options are in a good spot for Thursday's NBA DFS action?

One of the keys to finding success in daily fantasy basketball is uncovering potential value plays. If you're looking to roster a stud player or two, you need to consider squeezing in one of these lower-priced options into your lineup.

Let's take a look at five players who can help fill in the gaps in your lineup.

Spencer Dinwiddie, PG, Brooklyn Nets

FanDuel Price: $4,200
Projected FanDuel Points: 15.4
Projected FanDuel Value: 3.66

Even with the return of Jeremy Lin, backup point guard Spencer Dinwiddie has held his own. Over his last three games, Dinwiddie has logged 26.2 minutes and has contributed 9 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 4.3 assists. He could get a bump in minutes tonight, as the Brooklyn Nets are 13.5-point underdogs to the Utah Jazz.

According to our tools, Dinwiddie is trending as tonight's hottest point guard, playing 53.50% above his season average in terms of fantasy points per night over the last five games.

Alec Burks, SG, Utah Jazz

FanDuel Price: $3,500
Projected FanDuel Points: 20.9
Projected FanDuel Value: 5.96

Rodney Hood has been ruled out for tonight's game, which means Alec Burks could be in line for more minutes. Burks is coming off a decent game, recording 8 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 assists in 27.8 minutes of play. Over his last two games, Burks has averaged 10 field goal attempts. With added minutes, he could once again remain aggressive on offense.

Burks owns the highest-projected value among all shooting guards tonight. Also, he has the best defense-versus-position matchup among all players at his position. At minimum salary, he is worth considering as a punt option.

Brandon Ingram, SF, Los Angeles Lakers

FanDuel Price: $3,800
Projected FanDuel Points: 20.6
Projected FanDuel Value: 5.42

Brandon Ingram has been running a lot lately, collecting an average of 38.7 minutes over his last three games. He has been trigger-happy as well, as he's attempted 12.3 field goals and 3.3 free throws during the same span. Ingram will look to improve upon his first game versus the Boston Celtics when he recorded 14 points and 6 rebounds.

Ingram has the highest projected value among all small forwards playing on today's slate. At near-minimum salary, he may be worthy as a flier pick.

Richaun Holmes, PF, Philadelphia 76ers

FanDuel Price: $4,600
Projected FanDuel Points: 27.4
Projected FanDuel Value: 5.95

As long as Richaun Holmes continues to produce at his current pace, he is sure to become a household commodity in lineups everywhere. Holmes is coming off back-to-back games scoring 15 points on 62% shooting from the field. Over his last four games, he has averaged 12.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.8 blocks, and 1.3 steals.

Holmes has the highest projected value among all power forwards on Friday night and faces off against a banged-up New York Knicks frontline.

Kelly Olynyk, C, Boston Celtics

FanDuel Price: $4,100
Projected FanDuel Points: 18.3
Projected FanDuel Value: 4.47

Kelly Olynyk is coming off his first double-digit scoring game in since the All- Star break, when he tallied 10 points in a grind-out win versus the Cleveland Cavaliers. He will look to continue his all-around ways in an ideal matchup versus the Los Angeles Lakers, who have the worst defensive efficiency among all teams playing tonight.

Olynyk and teammate Al Horford share the best defense-versus-position matchup among all centers on tonight's slate. Olynyk will look to get into the mix, as the Celtics have the second-highest implied total with 113.75.
