3 Daily Fantasy Basketball Players to Avoid on 3/8/17

Andrew Wiggins has struggled over his last two games, and that could continue tonight against the Los Angeles Clippers.

In daily fantasy basketball, finding players you want to roster is a lot easier than finding players to avoid.

You can find a ton of great information and research on guys you might want to include in your DFS NBA lineups, but what about guys you may want to lessen your exposure to, or even fade altogether?

Avoiding players whose matchups or situations aren't as great as they seem can often be just as important as finding the best targets. After all, it only takes one player to sink a lineup. Searching for the landmines could mean the difference from winning or losing your contests.

Andrew Wiggins, SF, Minnesota Timberwolves

FanDuel Price: $7,900

Andrew Wiggins has pretty consistently put up big fantasy numbers this season, especially since the injury to Zach LaVine. However, he's had two straight tough defensive opponents in the Utah Jazz and San Antonio Spurs, who limited him to just 27.9 and 21.8 FanDuel points, respectively.

While most may not think of the Los Angeles Clippers as a tough opponent, they have been. With Blake Griffin back at power forward, Luc Mbah a Moute can be all over Wiggins tonight.

Mbah a Moute rarely gets credit for his stifling defense. He is holding players he defends to just 41.6% shooting from the floor, and the Clippers as a team are holding opposing small forwards to just 0.77 FanDuel points per minutes.

The last time these two teams faced, Mbah a Moute was playing power forward thanks to Griffin's injury. However, tonight he should be focused almost solely on slowing down Wiggins, and he has been pretty successful at doing that over their prior matchups. Wiggins is shooting just 40.2% in eight career games against Mbah a Moute.

Myles Turner, C, Indiana Pacers

FanDuel Price: $6,300

Myles Turner is another young player who draws a difficult matchup tonight, as he and the Indiana Pacers welcome in Andre Drummond and the Detroit Pistons.

In Turner's last four games against Drummond as the Pacers' starting center, he has averaged 14.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game.

Turner has scored more than 30 FanDuel points once against Drummond this year, but Turner is really slumping over his last two games, and I don't see that ceasing against the Pistons, who are holding centers to 0.96 FanDuel points per minute.

Darren Collison, PG, Sacramento Kings

FanDuel Price: $5,300

It seems like the Sacramento Kings are starting to prefer Ty Lawson over Darren Collison, which is not good for the latter's fantasy value.

Collison has seen some of his minutes decline with Lawson taking over a bigger role, and while Collison should still see big minutes tonight, it might not lead to more fantasy points.

According to RotoGrinders' CourtIQ, with Lawson on the floor, Collison's usage rate drops from 24.5% to 21.0%. Even though it hasn't been a fantasy killer, in tonight's tough matchup against the Spurs, it's best to avoid Collison.
