3 Daily Fantasy Basketball Players to Avoid on 3/27/17

Victor Oladipo squares off with Wesley Matthews on Monday. Who else should you steer clear of in NBA DFS?

In daily fantasy basketball, finding players you want to roster is a lot easier than finding players to avoid.

You can find a ton of great information and research on guys you might want to include in your DFS NBA lineups, but what about guys you may want to lessen your exposure to, or even fade altogether?

Avoiding players whose matchups or situations aren't as great as they seem can often be just as important as finding the best targets. After all, it only takes one player to sink a lineup. Searching for the landmines could mean the difference from winning or losing your contests.

Victor Oladipo, SG, Oklahoma City Thunder

FanDuel Price: $6,000

Since returning from injury, Victor Oladipo has been solid in the scoring department, averaging 17.9 points per game over his last nine. However, he runs up against the Dallas Mavericks and Wesley Matthews tonight in a matchup that he has had trouble with in the past.

Oladipo has yet to be healthy when the Oklahoma City Thunder and Mavericks hook up, but when he was a member of the Orlando Magic, Oladipo almost always ended a game against Matthews as a landmine. In five career games against Matthews, Oladipo is shooting just 31.5% from the floor.

On the year, the Mavs are holding opposing shooting guards 0.73 FanDuel points per minute, and while Matthews isn't putting up great defensive numbers like in past seasons, he is still going to slow down Oladipo enough tonight to make him a player to avoid.

Tristan Thompson, C, Cleveland Cavaliers

FanDuel Price: $4,900

The last time the San Antonio Spurs and Cleveland Cavaliers played one another back in late January, the game went into overtime with the Spurs coming out on top. Tristan Thompson played well in that one with 14 points and 12 rebounds.

Pau Gasol was injured at the time, and David Lee got the start. However, the Spurs have now turned to the much more defensive Dewayne Dedmon as their starting center, and that should change things this time around.

Dedmon is holding players he defends to just 40.4% shooting from the floor and 44.2% shooting within 10 feet of the basket. If he can keep that up against Thompson this evening, the Cavs' center likely will underperform.

Tim Frazier, PG, New Orleans Pelicans

FanDuel Price: $3,700

Tim Frazier has been a nice addition to the New Orleans Pelicans starting lineup. He had a nice stat line last night against the Denver Nuggets. However, tonight he has a much tougher opponent in the Utah Jazz, making him a landmine waiting to happen.

The Jazz are holding opposing point guards to just 0.68 FanDuel points per minute, which is the best mark in the league.

Frazier is going to have a tough time on the second night of a back-to-back, even at a cheap price. Both Rodney Hood and George Hill are good defenders, and with this one being in Utah, it makes pretty much all the Pelicans players to avoid.
