3 Daily Fantasy Basketball Players to Avoid on 1/23/18
In daily fantasy basketball, finding players you want to roster is a lot easier than finding players to avoid.
You can find a ton of great information and research on guys you might want to include in your DFS NBA lineups, but what about guys you may want to lessen your exposure to, or even fade altogether?
Avoiding players whose matchups or situations aren't as great as they seem can often be just as important as finding the best targets. After all, it takes only one player to sink a lineup. Searching for the landmines could mean the difference between winning and losing your contests. Which players should we avoid tonight?
DeMarre Carroll, SF, Brooklyn Nets
FanDuel Price: $6,200
DeMarre Carroll has been playing very well lately, and it looks like he is finally healthy as he's put up double figures in six straight games. However, that may be a false sense of security to those looking at Carroll's recent game log, because tonight he has a very tough matchup against Paul George and the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The Thunder have held opposing small forwards to just 0.76 FanDuel points per minute this season, and George has been solid on defense in his first season with Oklahoma City. He is holding players he defends to 45.6% shooting from the floor, and in nine career meetings against George, Carroll is averaging 9.3 points over 26.9 minutes per game.
Tony Parker, PG, San Antonio Spurs
FanDuel Price: $4,300
Tony Parker is likely going to be a candidate for the Hall of Fame once his playing career is over, but recently he has been relegated back to the San Antonio Spurs' bench in favor of teammate Dejounte Murray, which is not great for Parker's fantasy value.
Even in a good matchup tonight against the Cleveland Cavaliers, if Parker sees less than than 20 minutes, he's probably not going to do enough to hit value (5 fantasy points per every $1,000 in salary), especially with Patty Mills also deserving of minutes. Our models project Parker for just 16.7 FanDuel points, making him a player to stay away from on this short slate.
Josh Hart, SG, Los Angeles Lakers
FanDuel Price: $3,700
With Kentavious Caldwell-Pope sitting out tonight due to a sore Achilles tendon, Josh Hart could be looked by some at as a solid source of value in a potential spot start. However, with the Los Angeles Lakers facing off against the Boston Celtics, Hart could be facing the tenacious defense of Jaylen Brown.
The Celtics have limited opposing shooting guards to just 0.74 FanDuel points per minute, and Brown has been a big part of that, holding players he defends to just 38.5% shooting from the floor.
