3 Daily Fantasy Basketball Players to Avoid on 1/30/18

Even with John Wall sidelined, Otto Porter is a player to shy away from in a tough matchup against the Thunder.

In daily fantasy basketball, finding players you want to roster is a lot easier than finding players to avoid.

You can find a ton of great information and research on guys you might want to include in your DFS NBA lineups, but what about guys you may want to lessen your exposure to, or even fade altogether?

Avoiding players whose matchups or situations aren't as great as they seem can often be just as important as finding the best targets. After all, it takes only one player to sink a lineup. Searching for the landmines could mean the difference between winning and losing your contests. Which players should we avoid tonight?

Otto Porter, SF, Washington Wizards

FanDuel Price: $6,800

With John Wall (knee) out for the next six to eight weeks, Otto Porter is going to have to take on more usage on offense. However, that alone might not be enough to make him a viable fantasy investment on Tuesday against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Thunder are holding small forwards to just 0.76 FanDuel points per minute, and so far this season, Porter has struggled some without Wall. According to NBA Wowy, Porter's usage rate goes from 15.5% to 20.7% when Wall is off the court, but his effective field goal percentage drops from 57.9% to 51.5% sans Wall. This has led to his FanDuel points per minute average going up a mere 0.08 points per minute with Wall off the court.

Rajon Rondo, PG, New Orleans Pelicans

FanDuel Price: $5,500

Rajon Rondo is averaging just 17.5 minutes per game over his last four games, but in a revenge game against the Sacramento Kings, Rondo is priced up likely due to the revenge narrative.

However, so far this season, the Kings are holding point guards to 0.88 FanDuel points per minute, which ranks 13th on our defense-versus-position matchup chart. Considering Rondo is averaging just 14.0 FanDuel points per game over his last six, the revenge narrative won't help him produce fantasy points if he can't get off the New Orleans Pelicans' bench.

Danny Green, SG, San Antonio Spurs

FanDuel Price: $4,500

We are usually talking about Danny Green as a tough matchup for someone else, but Green will have the tables turned on him tonight versus the Denver Nuggets.

Besides being very good on the offensive end, Gary Harris has been very good on defense this season. The Nuggets are holding shooting guards to 0.78 FanDuel points per minute, and Harris is limiting players he defends to an impressive 42.4% shooting this season. It's not a night to use Green as a dart throw.
