Fantasy Basketball: A Dozen Dimes, Week 21

Bogdan Bogdanovic has been on a roll and can be a difference maker down the stretch. Who else should you consider adding in season-long fantasy basketball as we enter Week 21?

Welcome back to our weekly transactions article, where we dish out 12 dimes of fantasy hoops advice.

Because most fantasy hoops trade deadlines have already passed and the playoffs in the majority of head-to-head leagues are just around the corner, A Dozen Dimes will essentially be converting into a waiver wire column for the rest of the season. In other words, instead of offering up 12 nuggets of adding, dropping, buying, and selling advice for this upcoming week and beyond, we're focusing on just the adding.

These are generally listed in relative order of importance. If you're looking for even more advice, check the "related news" section underneath to cycle through other recent editions of this column. We try not to repeat ourselves too much from one week to the next, so you might find more ideas you like from previous weeks that are still valid.

Okay, let's get down to it.

Dejounte Murray

Dejounte Murray has been a great fantasy asset since taking over for Tony Parker as the team's starting point guard in mid-January. He's been particularly hot over his last five, averaging 13.4 points, 0.2 threes, 7.0 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 2.0 steals, 1.6 blocks, and 2.2 turnovers in 27.8 minutes per contest, while shooting 50.9% from the field and 88.9% from the the free throw line. That's good enough for 24th-ranked value in nine-category leagues over that span, but Murray's still out there in 55% of Yahoo leagues and 50% on ESPN. Fix that right now if that's the case in your league.

Bogdan Bogdanovic

Rookie Bogdan Bogdanovic has shown up several times in this column this season, but with a modest 50% ownership rate in Yahoo leagues and 35% on ESPN, we almost have no choice but to talk about him again. Over his last six games, he's been the 31st-ranked player in nine-category leagues on the strength of his averages of 17.7 points, 2.5 triples, 3.7 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 1.0 steal, 0.3 blocks, and 1.0 turnovers in 31.4 minutes per contest, and shooting split of 48.1% from the field and a perfect 13 for 13 from the charity stripe. He's starting for the Sacramento Kings and is poised for a solid stretch run, making him a must-own, must-start player until further notice.

Jarrett Allen

Jarrett Allen has been a top-notch fantasy big man since joining the Brooklyn Nets' starting lineup at the end of January. Since January 31st (13 games), Allen has been the 58th-ranked player in nine-category leagues, averaging 12.8 points, 7.4 boards, 1.6 assists, 0.5 steals, 1.2 blocks, and 1.8 turnovers in 24.4 minutes per contest, while shooting a blistering 63.2% from the field and 84.6% from the line. The low scoring has him flying under the radar, leaving him available in 55% of Yahoo leagues and 65% on ESPN, but the rebounds, blocks, low turnovers and ridiculous percentages make him a better fantasy asset than most name-brand bigs out there with higher ownership percentages. Don't sleep on him.

John Collins

John Collins has started six consecutive games for the Atlanta Hawks and has been in the midst of a fantasy breakout over his last seven. Over that seven-game span, Collins has been the 74th-ranked player in nine-category leagues, averaging 9.4 points, 0.1 threes, 7.9 rebounds, 1.0 assist, 0.7 steals, 1.7 blocks, and 1.3 turnovers in 27.1 minutes per contest, while shooting 53.1% from the field and 81.3% from the free throw line. He's still out there in 50% of Yahoo leagues and 55% on ESPN if you're in need of a big man with high rest-of-season upside.

Allen Crabbe

No one really talks about Allen Crabbe all that much, but he's been playing like a top-50 fantasy asset over the last month or so. Over Crabbe's last nine games, he's been the 52nd-ranked player in nine-category leagues, averaging 19.1 points, 4.0 triples, 4.1 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 0.9 steals, 0.2 blocks, and 0.9 turnovers in 33.5 minutes per game, while shooting 43.4% from the field and 83.3% from the free throw line. He's owned in 50% of Yahoo leagues, but only 20% on ESPN, so he can be had in a lot of places if you need the scoring or triples.

JaMychal Green

JaMychal Green is one of the last men standing on a battered and bruised (and tanking) Memphis Grizzlies team, and he's responded to an increased role by rattling off five consecutive double-doubles. Over his last eight contests, Green has been the 70th-ranked player in nine-category leagues, averaging 12.3 points, 0.8 triples, 10.1 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 0.8 steals, 0.8 blocks, and 1.3 turnovers in 30.6 minutes per contest, while shooting 43.9% from the field and 87.0% from the free throw line. He's owned in only 35% of Yahoo leagues and 25% on ESPN, but he's got a chance to have a monster ending to his season. If you need the boards in particular, scoop him up.

David Nwaba

We mentioned David Nwaba last week, but he's still kicking butt and remains unowned in 80% of Yahoo leagues and 90% on ESPN, so here we go again. Over his last five (all starts), he's averaged 12.4 points, 1.0 three, 8.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.8 steals, 0.6 blocks, and 1.4 turnovers in 32.5 minutes per contest, while shooting 61.0% from the field and 70.0% from the line. That's good enough to rank him 31st in nine-category leagues over that span, so he's well worth an add right now. With the Chicago Bulls firmly in tank mode, the 25-year-old is likely to get plenty of burn down the stretch, so his rest-of-season arrow is pointing firmly up.

Taurean Prince

Taurean Prince has not quite had the breakout season many were expecting out of him, but he's been fairly solid over his last four, averaging 19.0 points, 4.5 triples, 4.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 2.3 steals, 0.5 blocks, and 2.8 turnovers in 32.1 minutes per game, while shooting 39.1% from the field and 88.9% from the line. The shooting mark is obviously a bummer, but that's still 38th-ranked value in nine-category leagues over that span. He's available in 50% of Yahoo leagues and 75% on ESPN, but that might not be the case for long.

DeMarre Carroll

One wouldn't normally be inclined to add a 31-year-old like DeMarre Carroll on a bottom-feeding team near the end of the season, but the Brooklyn Nets don't own their draft pick anyway, so they have nothing to tank for. In other words, there's no reason not to run with DMC right now if you're Brooklyn or a prospective fantasy owner. Over his last four games, Carroll has been the 19th-ranked player in nine-category leagues on the strength of his 19.0 points, 4.0 threes, 7.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 0.5 steals, 0.3 steals, and 1.5 turnovers in 30.3 minutes per contest, and shooting split of 57.8% from the field and 80.0% from the free throw line. The most minor of injuries could always lead to a Carroll shutdown, but for now, he's red-hot and unowned in 45% of Yahoo leagues and 50% on ESPN. Give him a shot.

Skal Labissiere

Willie Cauley-Stein is sidelined with a lower back strain, so there could be more room for Skal Labissiere to make a fantasy impact over the next little while. Even with WCS in the lineup for three of Labissiere's last five, Skal has managed to post 71st-ranked nine-category value over that span, averaging 12.6 points, 0.6 threes, 5.8 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 0.6 steals, 1.6 blocks, and 1.2 turnovers in 30.1 minutes per contest, while shooting 50.0% from the field and 87.5% from the free throw line. Even for those in deeper leagues, Labissiere is only owned in 15% of Yahoo leagues and 5% on ESPN, so he's widely available if you're in need of a big man.

Montrezl Harrell

Montrezl Harrell has quietly been a fantasy dynamo in limited minutes off the bench for the Los Angeles Clippers for much of 2018. Over his last 10 games, in particular, he's been the 60th-ranked player in nine-category leagues, averaging 14.4 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1.0 assist, 0.6 steals, 1.1 blocks, and 0.7 turnovers in a mere 17.8 minutes per contest, while shooting a ridiculous 71.4% from the field and 75.0% from the free throw line. Most of his value is drawn from the decent blocks, ultra-low turnovers, and excellent shooting split, so you won't get much in terms of counting stats, but who couldn't use a solid ratio guy to anchor his or her bench? If you would like to give him a shot, he's out there in 80% of Yahoo leagues and nearly 90% on ESPN.

Trey Burke

Trey Burke is bound to vanish at any moment playing in a three-headed timeshare with Emmanuel Mudiay and Frank Ntilikina, but he's been so solid over his last five that we have no choice but to mention him for the second week in a row. Over that span, Burke has been averaging 18.6 points, 1.4 threes, 1.6 rebounds, 5.4 assists, 0.8 steals, 0.8 blocks, and 1.4 turnovers in 25.3 minutes per contest off the bench for the New York Knicks , while shooting 51.9% from the field and 75.0% from the free throw line. His 54th-ranked value over that span really doesn't feel sustainable, but he's out there in roughly 75% of Yahoo and ESPN leagues if you feel like rolling with him until the wheels fall off.
