Los Angeles Clippers Stat Monkey Brief: Clippers/Hawks (11/24/12)

The Clippers may have had a bit too much turkey before yesterday's game but look to turn around quickly against Atlanta today.

Lob City Highlight of the Day

The play of the night that deserves another look is Griffin absolutely stuffing Williams like a thanksgiving turkey.

Quick Recap

Unfortunately there was nothing else positive about the way the Clippers played last night. I made the joke yesterday that they will only lose if they were comatose, and it actually looked like they slipped into a coma in the second half. After scoring 47 points and shooting 48.7% from the field in the first half, the Clippers only scored 29 points while shooting 30.3% from the field in the second. It was the tale of two Clippers teams. First you have the contender, that plays efficiently on both ends of the floor and beats quality teams. But on the other side, you have the young team from last year that can’t generate any offense and loses to teams like the Nets, Cleveland, and Golden State.

Tonight's Preview

Tonight the Clippers travel to Atlanta to take on the Hawks for the second time this season. The Hawks have the most efficient defense, and until last night were the only team that held the Clippers under 90 points. On the other end of the court, the Hawks are one of the worst teams in the NBA this season, ranking 25th in offensive efficiency while averaging only 94.4 points per game. The first game was a low scoring affair, and I don’t expect tonight to be much different. Clippers fans can only hope Lob City snaps out their coma and comes to play the entire game tonight.
