3 NBA FanDuel Value Plays to Target on 10/29/19

Quinn Cook has played more than 20 minutes in each of the last two games and is in line to start if Rajon Rondo is out tonight. Which other value plays should you be looking at?

One of the keys to finding success in daily fantasy basketball is uncovering potential value plays. If you're looking to roster a stud player or two, you need to consider squeezing in one of these lower-priced options into your lineup.

Let's take a look at five players who can help fill in the gaps in your lineup

Dwight Powell, C, Dallas Mavericks ($4,600)

While Dwight Powell has yet to play this season, he went through a full practice on Monday and is officially questionable for this game.

It's not confirmed as of yet, but Powell appears to be on the path to make his season debut tonight versus the Denver Nuggets. If he is able to play, he offers a nice bit of salary relief on a three-game slate, along with the point-per-dollar upside you always aim for. We also have to deal with the possibility that Powell won't be playing a full game and could be on a minutes restriction. Last season, Powell averaged 0.96 FanDuel points per minute in the 77 games he played.

So this situation for Powell is two-fold. Is he playing? If so, how many minutes will he play? We don't have the answers yet, but he makes a great value play if he is ready for his season debut.

Quinn Cook, PG, Los Angeles Lakers ($4,100)

With Rajon Rondo dealing with a strained calf, Quinn Cook is in line for the start.

Rondo had an MRI over the weekend and is listed as questionable for this game against the Memphis Grizzlies, which has the Los Angeles Lakers coming in as 11.5-point home favorites. The question I have is: Does Rondo actually need to play in this game for the Lakers to win? Personally, I think the Lakers would be fine without him, but that's just view on things.

Over the first three games of the season, Cook has played 16 minutes or more in each game, including 21 minutes or more in the last two, but he's exceeded one fantasy point per minute only one time. That one time was against the Charlotte Hornets, when he posted 27.6 FanDuel points in 24 minutes. Cook has an 18.0% usage rate within the offense and is producing 0.70 FanDuel points per minute this season. If Rondo sits, Cook is a smashing value.

DeAndre' Bembry, SF, Atlanta Hawks ($4,200)

The Atlanta Hawks are on the second night of a back-to-back and will take on the Miami Heat.

This game has an over/under sitting at 225.0 points, which is the highest on the slate. Naturally, this is a spot to target for some fantasy points. We have a few notes for the Hawks and their wing players. Evan Turner has been ruled for this game. Kevin Huerter is still dealing with a knee injury and has been on a minutes limit all season. The Hawks are on a back-to-back, which should cap how many minutes Huerter will play. All of this presents an opening for DeAndre Bembry, who comes in as our fourth-best value, per our models, at small forward tonight.

Bembry has a modest 14.1% usage rate so far this season, along with posting 0.82 FanDuel points per minute. We aren't going to be getting a 40 spot from Bembry, but he has racked up more than 20 FanDuel points in two of his three games this season. That type of output is in the cards tonight since the Hawks should be playing up in pace. Atlanta is actually one of the slowest-paced teams to start the season, while the Heat are the second-fastest.
