5 NBA FanDuel Value Plays to Target on 2/28/20

One of the keys to finding success in daily fantasy basketball is uncovering potential value plays. If you're looking to roster a stud player or two, you need to consider squeezing in one of these lower-priced options into your lineup.

Let's take a look at five players who can help fill in the gaps in your lineup.

Tristan Thompson, C, Cleveland Cavaliers ($5,000)

Tristan Thompson got the start the other day with Andre Drummond out, and that is what we should see again tonight.

Even with the Cleveland Cavaliers trading for Drummond at the deadline, Thompson has found a way to be productive with his time on the court and showed that the other day with 37 FanDuel points in 31 minutes. Drummond has been ruled out again, making Thompson a fantastic option at only $5K tonight. He is on the road to take on the New Orleans Pelicans, which has the over/under set at a massive 237 points -- along with the Pelicans allowing the 11th most FanDuel points per game to centers this season.

Thompson has been with the team all season, giving us a very large same size to draw from -- where he is producing 1.00 FanDuel points per minute on an 18.1% usage rate. It's not as if we have to look at his splits only when Drummond is off the court -- this is simply the starting lineup they were using all season prior to trading for Drummond.

Taurean Prince, SF, Brooklyn Nets ($4,300)

With a 236-point over/under, we are expecting plenty of scoring with the Brooklyn Nets taking on the Atlanta Hawks.

This is one of a few games on the slate where the fantasy potential is massive, and getting exposure to these games should be very beneficial. Both the Nets and the Hawks are sitting in the top-10 for the fastest-paced teams this season, allowing plenty of scoring back and forth. This is exactly what we want to see in NBA DFS, putting a player like Taurean Prince in a great spot to exceed value tonight. He is listed as a small forward, but lines up as the power forward for the Nets -- putting him in a great spot.

The Hawks are dead last in the league versus power forwards this season -- allowing 48.9 FanDuel points per game. We have him projected for 29 minutes and 24 FanDuel points tonight, which seems a bit light to me -- I expect him to push past that in this matchup.

Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, PF, Toronto Raptors ($3,700)

The Toronto Raptors are massive 14-point home favorites and playing in the lowest over/under game against the Charlotte Hornets.

Both of those are true tonight, so the question becomes, why would we look here for fantasy value? Generally, high-spreads and low over/under games aren't amazing for fantasy production -- but this could be the outlier. As of now, Serge Ibaka is listed as questionable for this game, and if he is out, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson should be in line for plenty of minutes. I truly don't think the Raptors need Ibaka to win this game, and I want the value that RHJ brings tonight.

When Ibaka is off the court this season RHJ, sees a minor bump in usage -- 1.7% -- and is now up to 19.1% and producing 1.00 FanDuel points per minute. A cheap player who can produce when given the chance, but again, why this game? As I say on The Daily Iso, attack Charlotte via big men. This season they are allowing 56.4 FanDuel points per game to centers -- dead last in the league -- and 46.9 FanDuel points per game to power forwards -- the fifth-worst in the league. This is an elite matchup for RHJ -- we just need him in the starting lineup.

Naz Reid, PF, Minnesota Timberwolves ($4,500)

Can we continue going back to Naz Reid as a value option?

I know the name Nasty Nas is taken by the rapper, but I want to go with Nasty Naz, and it's true -- his numbers have been nasty. Since Karl-Anthony Towns went out with an injury on February 12th, Reid has played a total of 119 minutes in five games, piling up 129.6 FanDuel points. He is legit productive with Towns off the court, and with the over/under at 234 points against the Orlando Magic tonight, we want to go right back to him.

Orlando is right at the league average in FanDuel points allowed per game to power forwards this season -- 44.9 -- so there is no reason we shouldn't view Reid as an amazing value option tonight. In fact, our projections have him going for 24 minutes and 27 FanDuel points, making him the sixth-best value option on the entire slate.

Mikal Bridges, SF, Phoenix Suns ($5,000)

This isn't a bridge too far.

Mikal Bridges is a value play, and his price should almost certainly be on the rise soon. It was reported the other day that Phoenix Suns' starting small forward Kelly Oubre may have suffered a torn meniscus. That is always tough to see, but this could be an opening for Bridges to viable in the coming days. Bridges isn't a high-usage player at all -- a starting-five low of 7.5% -- but he is producing 0.88 FanDuel points per minute.

I find this to be very interesting for a few reasons. First off, Bridges was already playing 20-30 minutes a night when Oubre was healthy and is clearly in their rotation. Next, his 0.88 FanDuel points per minute rate is exciting since he doesn't need to score the ball a ton to be effective. He can fill up the stat sheet and still find a way to reach value without pure scoring. Finally, there is a lot of room for growth with the usage being that low. He won't jump to 25% usage, as he has to compete with Devin Booker and Deandre Ayton, but there is still some usage to grab going forward.
