DraftKings Daily Fantasy Basketball Helper: Monday 3/2/20
With seven games to choose from on tonight's NBA slate, let's take a look at how to utilize the DFS possibilities.
Here are some of the top plays on DraftKings. As always, good luck.
Point Guard
Russell Westbrook ( $10,000) -- In Saturday's win over the Boston Celtics, Westbrook recorded 41 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists on 16 of 27 shooting (59.3%). This will be his first meeting with the New York Knicks, and they will be facing him at a tough time. Westbrook has scored 30 or more points in three straight games and recorded 10 or more combined rebounds and assists in all three. He's been efficient, hitting 50% or more of his field goal attempts in six of his last seven games and made at least 14 shots in five of those seven. He averages the fifth-most fantasy points per minute of all players tonight with 1.51. numberFire's model projects Westbrook with 48.2 fantasy points tonight -- the fourth-highest projected score on the slate.
Coby White ($5,800) -- White only scored 22 points in his last game, which would seem impressive, but he had 30 in each of his previous three games. He's attempted 17 or more shots in his last four games and has raised his usage rate to 32.08% over his last five games. He's one of the hottest players in fantasy right now, skyrocketing his fantasy average to 36.62 points. He's played 30 or more minutes in four of his last five games and is averaging 1.22 fantasy points per minute in that stretch. He's also made four or more three-pointers in those four games, and his opponent -- the Dallas Mavericks -- ranks 26th in made three-pointers to opposing point guards (2.94).
Shooting Guard
C.J. McCollum ($9,300) -- McCollum has been a scoring machine since Damian Lillard went down with a groin injury, scoring 20 or more in seven straight games and 27 or more in five straight. He averaged nine assists per game over his last five contests, including three double-digit assist games. He's also recorded three or more rebounds in six straight games -- as he's done a little bit of everything for the Portland Trail Blazers. The Orlando Magic are his opponent tonight, and they rank bottom-12 in rebounds and assists allowed to shooting guards. numberFire's model pegs McCollum to record 43.1 fantasy points in his second meeting with Orlando, after recording 50 in the first.
Donovan Mitchell ($7,900) -- Mitchell has four straight games of 30 or more real-life points, to go along with eight or more combined rebounds and assists in each contest. His usage rate has increased to 31.35% over the last five games as he's averaged 39.3 fantasy points per game during that stretch. Spida Mitchell averages his best numbers off two days of rest, posting 24 points, 6 rebounds, and 5.4 assists in eight games. The Cleveland Cavaliers allow the eighth-most fantasy points to shooting guards and ninth-most real-life points -- which could be worrisome for Cleveland. Mitchell is averaging 48.1 fantasy points over his last two games versus Eastern Conference opponents, and the Utah Jazz star is projected to record 37.2 fantasy points tonight by our algorithm.
Small Forward
Robert Covington ($6,200) -- Covington recorded his first double-double as a member of the Rockets on Saturday against the Celtics, recording 16 points and 16 rebounds on just six made field goals. He has averaged 36.5 fantasy points over his last five games. Covington has made 16 three-pointers in his five road games with the Houston Rockets, compared to 10 makes in four home games. The Knicks allow the second-most made three-pointers per game to small forwards (2.86), and rank top-five worst in points (26th) and rebounds (27th) allowed to the position. With Houston's small-ball lineup, Covington will be going for his second straight double-double.
Dillon Brooks ($5,300) -- Brooks has scored 20 or more points real-life in three straight games for the Grizzlies, attempting 22 or more field goal attempts in each game. The Atlanta Hawks surrender the third-most real-life and fantasy points to opposing shooting guards. Atlanta is allowing 120.2 points per game over their last five games, and the Grizzlies are coming off a huge win over the Los Angeles Lakers to stop a five-game losing streak. Look for Brooks to keep his hot-hand going tonight versus a young Atlanta team.
Power Forward
Domantas Sabonis ($8,800) -- This will be Sabonis' first meeting with San Antonio after averaging 17.5 points, 13 rebounds, and 4.5 assists in two meetings against them last season. This season, the Spurs allow the 10th-most rebounds to power forwards, and Sabonis ranks fifth in the league with 12.5 boards per game. He's recorded 11 or more rebounds in five straight games and has seven straight with 10 or more on the road. Sabonis is playing his best ball on one day of rest, averaging 19.3 points, 13 rebounds, and 5.6 assists in a large sample size of 38 games. LaMarcus Aldridge has missed some time for San Antonio, and if he's a no-go, look for Sabonis to have a big night in the paint.
Center
Jonas Valanciunas ($6,800) -- No center has had better numbers over the last two games than Valanciunas. He's on fire with 17.5 points and 22.5 rebounds in his last two contests, including a 22-20 performance in his last outing. He's recorded two-straight 20 rebound games, and 55 total in his last three outings. The Atlanta Hawks rank last in the association, allowing 59.01 fantasy points to centers, second-worst in points per game (24.49), and eighth-worst in rebounds. numberFire's model pegs Valanciunas to have his fourth straight double-double with 17.1 points and 12 rebounds.
Myles Turner ($5,200) -- Turner has started the new year well after a slow start to the season. In February, Turner is averaging 10.1 points and 7.7 rebounds, including two double-doubles in his last three games. He's added 14 blocks to his resume over his last three, as well, and three straight with 10 rebounds. San Antonio has allowed the 11th-most fantasy points to centers over their last seven contests, and Turner's averaging 33 fantasy points over his last five. If Sabonis is too expensive for your lineup, grab Turner, since he has the same favorable matchup versus the Spurs frontcourt.
