3 NBA FanDuel Value Plays to Target on 8/6/20

Michael Porter Jr. is on fire for the Nuggets and continues to have a modest price tag. Is he one of the top values tonight?

One of the keys to finding success in daily fantasy basketball is uncovering potential value plays. If you're looking to roster a stud player or two, you need to consider squeezing in one of these lower-priced options into your lineup.

Let's take a look at three players who can help fill in the gaps in your lineup.

Michael Porter Jr, PF, Denver Nuggets ($5,500)

Things change fast inside the NBA, sometimes even faster than the FanDuel player pool can account for. Michael Porter Jr. has finally arrived as the scoring prodigy he was billed to be while playing for the Missouri Tigers. Porter continues to be the second (if not first) option behind Nikola Jokic, and is averaging 52.45 FanDuel points in his last two breakout games. He will be incredibly viable--and incredibly popular--if Gary Harris, Will Barton, and Jamal Murray all miss Thursday's contest again. That is likely on the second leg of a back-to-back for the Denver Nuggets.

Porter Jr.'s issue has never been his production, at 1.09 FanDuel points per minute, but always rather Michael Malone's willingness to play the young forward given his struggles on defense. Carrying the Mile High City the last few days offensively should easily have secured MPJ's role in the rotation at this point. I have a much higher outlook for Porter Jr. than I did Brandon Clarke as an extremely popular play on Wednesday, especially given that the Portland Trail Blazers give up the second-most FanDuel points in the NBA to opposing power forwards.

Danuel House Jr, SF, Houston Rockets ($4,500)

Once a frustrating point-per-minute play in a great offense, Danuel House Jr. is finally starting to deliver next to two of the greatest playmakers in the NBA's 21st century. House Jr. is averaging 33 minutes in an elite offense for fantasy, as they do not play a traditional center, which funnels rebounds to all members of the team much more equally. That increase for House inside the bubble, up to 4.66 rebounds per game, is what has turned him into a more consistent fantasy option, never scoring less than 22.75 FanDuel points in Orlando.

At this price tag, that floor outcome would be a FanDuel value score of 5.05, which would be a nice return for the dollar here. There should be no change in his role with Eric Gordon still nowhere close to a return, and his matchup against the Los Angeles Lakers may get even easier if LeBron James and Anthony Davis are rested after locking up the number-one seed in the Western Conference.

Kendrick Nunn, PG, Miami Heat ($4,500)

Okay, this one is not for the faint of heart. If you prefer a safer option, Monte Morris should start for Jamal Murray again, and he has easily cruised passed value on FanDuel in each of his last three games. But, the Miami Heat are going to need some offensive help against the league-best Milwaukee Bucks, and Kendrick Nunn might be the one to provide it.

From the Miami Herald, Jimmy Butler is already out with his ankle injury, and Goran Dragic is questionable after rolling his ankle Tuesday against the Boston Celtics. Nunn just simply has not seen the requisite time on the floor in the bubble so far, even still starting for Miami, at only 18.33 minutes per game in the three games in Orlando. However, if both of those guards miss, the Heat will need offensive guard help, Nunn might be able to deliver. In his last five games seeing over 30 minutes, Nunn is averaging 20.6 points, 3.2 assists, and 3.8 rebounds per game--which would certainly suffice at this price tag.

Tyler Herro and Duncan Robinson should both also see huge boosts from these injuries as well, and those are the plays to prioritize given all these young players would be more likely than Jae Crowder or Andre Iguodala to see garbage time should the Bucks blow this one wide-open.
