3 NBA FanDuel Value Plays to Target on 3/29/21
One of the keys to finding success in daily fantasy basketball is uncovering potential value plays. If you're looking to roster a stud player or two, you need to consider squeezing in one of these lower-salaried options into your lineup.
Let's take a look at three players who can help fill in the gaps in your lineup.
Isaiah Roby, PF, Oklahoma City Thunder ($4,700)
The Oklahoma City Thunder have decided to sit Al Horford for the rest of the season, and that opens up playing time for younger players.
It's very clear that the Thunder are undergoing a rebuild right now and are focusing on getting their younger players plenty of playing time. This opens up the minutes for Isaiah Roby, making him a very clear value option tonight. He comes in with 26 minutes or more in seven of the nine games on this side of the All-Star break, which is right where we should see him tonight. Roby is projected for 32.51 minutes and 31.6 FanDuel points, making him the best-projected value option on tonight's slate.
This is due in part to the Thunder being without Horford, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Darius Bazley, Luguentz Dort, and Mike Muscala. When they have all been off the court this season, Roby is carrying a 19.7% usage rate while producing 0.95 FanDuel points per minute.
Tonight's matchup versus the Dallas Mavericks only has an over/under of 220 points, but the minutes and production are so secure for Roby that he is a top value option tonight.
Brodric Thomas, SG, Cleveland Cavaliers ($3,600)
If you are looking for a punt play, Brodric Thomas could be viable tonight.
Thomas got the start for the Cleveland Cavaliers the other night against the Sacramento Kings and played 31 minutes while posting 21.7 FanDuel points. While that is under one FanDuel point per minute, he was still able to exceed 5x salary-based value. That is what we can expect from Thomas tonight, as he is projected for 26.76 minutes and 22.1 FanDuel points. This makes him the best value option among shooting guards tonight and the top option who is under $4,000.
While tonight's matchup is certainly a tougher one against Utah, Thomas is still set to exceed value, making him a viable value play who could help with roster construction if you are going for a stars-and-scrubs build.
A 221-point over/under against Utah is good, and despite the Cavaliers being 16-point road underdogs, Thomas is still in line for plenty of minutes and solid production given his lower salary.
Reggie Jackson, PG, Los Angeles Clippers ($4,300)
Reggie Jackson is the top projected value option among point guards tonight, so let's talk about it.
The Los Angeles Clippers are still without Serge Ibaka and Patrick Beverley, which means Jackson is in the starting lineup for what happens to be a fantastic spot.
They are taking on the Milwaukee Bucks tonight with the third-highest (232.0) total on the slate and a massive pace-up spot. The Clippers are 29th in the league in offensive pace, while the Bucks are the fifth-fastest team. Both of those factors are always good for fantasy production, but it doesn't stop there for Jackson.
The Bucks are allowing 46.25 FanDuel points per game to opposing point guards, which is 14th in the league. The Bucks might be known as a "strong" defensive team, but in fact, they are right at the league average when it comes to FanDuel points allowed. This gives Jackson a projection of 25.9 FanDuel points in 30.53 minutes of action, making him the top point-per-dollar option at point guard.
