Carmelo Anthony struggles in Trail Blazers debut, expects to remain starter

Portland Trail Blazers forward Carmelo Anthony scored 10 points (4-of-14 field goals, 2-of-3 3-pointers) with 4 rebounds, 1 block, and 5 turnovers in 23.6 minutes of a 115-104 loss to the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday.

What It Means:

Anthony also committed five fouls in a surprising start after not playing in a game in over a year. He finished with more field goal attempts than points in a subpar performance. Despite the results, the Trail Blazers apparently intend to keep Anthony in the starting lineup. "I don't see why not," head coach Terry Stotts replied when asked if the veteran would continue to start. "That was something that was established out [of] the gate," Anthony added. The Blazers will visit the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday.

Melo scored 12.8 FanDuel points on Tuesday. numberFire's models project him for 9.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 0.5 steals, 0.6 blocks, and 1.4 triples per game over the rest of the year.
