LeBron James (ankle) targeting Tuesday return for Lakers
Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James (ankle) is targeting Tuesday's game versus the New York Knicks for a return, reports Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium.
What It Means:
Charania adds that Wednesday's matchup with the Houston Rockets is a possibility if James isn't ready for Tuesday. James returned for two games to "test his ankle out," per head coach Frank Vogel, but he's missed the four games since. Anthony Davis should see a downtick in usage if James is cleared and Wesley Matthews figures to lose his place in the starting lineup.
Davis is leading the Lakers with a 4.8 percent usage rate increase when LeBron is off the floor this season. However, he is averaging more FanDuel points per game when LeBron is active (44.9) than when LeBron is out (37.6). LeBron is averaging 50.1 FanDuel points over 55 career games against the Knicks.
