8. 2006-07 North Carolina Tar Heels

Over the years, there have been too many good Tar Heels teams to count. In 2006, Roy Williams' fourth year in Chapel Hill, we got one of the best, as North Carolina ended the year 31-7. Behind a fast-paced offense, the Tar Heels placed second in the nation with 85.7 points per game.

As a result, the offense was good enough for the 98th percentile nationally. The fact that they also rated within the 95th percentile defensively allowed them to clear the rest of the field by 2.39 nERD points.

Tyler Hansbrough led a cast of big-time college players with averages of 18.4 points and 7.9 rebounds per game. In his sophomore season, Hansbrough was joined by Brandan Wright, Wayne Ellington and Ty Lawson. Each averaged at least 10 points a game and Wright led the team with .301 win shares per 40 minutes.

North Carolina made a run to the Elite Eight, but the number 1 seeded Tar Heels were upset by the second-seeded Georgetown Hoyas.
