College Basketball Daily Fantasy Helper: Thursday 11/21/19

College basketball season is upon us, and we have a six-game slate tonight.

March Madness is months away, but you can get in all the college hoops hype by playing daily contests at FanDuel today. If you've played NBA DFS before, it's quite simple: pick a total of eight players -- four guards, three forwards and one utility spot you can use for either position. Stay within the $50,000 salary cap and field the team you think will score the most fantasy points.

Where scoring differs from NBA is in the blocks and steals categories, with each worth two FanDuel points apiece rather than the three you get in daily NBA contests.

Now that you're in the know, we can attack today's main slate, which locks at 7:00 p.m. EST.

Which players should you be targeting, and why?

Guards

Tre Jones, Duke ($8,000) - The Duke point guard is averaging 1.06 fantasy points per minute. Jones will almost assuredly see his minutes increase from his season average (29.8 minutes per game) in the Blue Devils' matchup with the California Golden Bears on Thursday night. Despite owning the highest price tag on the slate, Jones will have to log around only 32 minutes to hit value (assuming value is 4x the player's price tag). The sophomore has topped 33.7 FanDuel points in three out of Duke's four games this season. He left due to injury after nine minutes of action in the only game in which he didn't score at least 33.7 FanDuel points.

Matt Coleman III, Texas ($6,600) - Coleman III leads the Texas Longhorns in points (averages 14.5 points) and assists (averages 4.3 assists per game) through four games this season. The point guard also averages nearly 34 minutes per game. On tap is a matchup with the Georgetown Hoyas, which represents a massive pace-up game for the Longhorns. Georgetown is 19th in Ken Pom's adjusted tempo ranking while Texas is 273rd.

Brad Davison, Wisconsin ($6,100) - The junior point guard is averaging 15.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, two assists, and 1.5 steals in 33.5 minutes through four games. The matchup with Green Bay on Thursday is phenomenal. Green Bay struggles on defense and plays at a blazing fast pace. Davison, the Badgers' leading scorer, should have no problem paying off his middling price tag.

Rex Pflueger, Notre Dame ($4,600) - Pflueger has logged big minutes in two straight games after being eased back into action following an ACL tear that ended his season prematurely last campaign. The senior scored 13 points, grabbed three rebounds, assisted on six baskets, and recorded two steals in 36 minutes of action in Notre Dame's previous game. The sharpshooter is one of the better value guards on this slate.

D'Mitrik Trice, Wisconsin ($4,500) - The senior guard has recorded at least 10.3 FanDuel points in all four games this season. Trice spends a ton of time on the court as he's averaging 31.8 minutes per game. While his ceiling is relatively low, Trice is a solid value play as the Badgers face off with fast-paced-but-defensive-deficient Green Bay.

Forwards

Luka Garza, Iowa ($7,700) - The Hawkeyes' center has recorded double-doubles in two out of three games this season. Garza is averaging 36 FanDuel points in only 27 minutes of action -- which equates to 1.33 fantasy points per minute. His ceiling is sky high against North Florida, who is bad on D (200th in Ken Pom's adjusted defense ranking) and is fast paced (29th in Ken Pom's adjusted tempo ranking).

Vernon Carey Jr., Duke ($6,900) - The highly touted freshman had a slow start to the season as he struggled with foul trouble. However, the big man has been a dominating force in Duke's last two games. Carey Jr. scored 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in 20 minutes against Central Arkansas. He followed that up with 20 points, 14 rebounds, one assist, two blocks, and one steal against Georgia State in Duke's last game. Play him while he's still relatively cheap.

Nate Reuvers, Wisconsin ($6,700) - Reuvers is doing an outstanding job filling the massive void left by former Badgers' star Ethan Happ. In four games this season, the big man is averaging 14.0 points, 6.6 rebounds, 0.8 assists, and 4.3 blocks/steals. With the Badgers carrying an implied team total of 80.5 -- which is 8.5 more points than their season average of 72 -- Reuvers will have plenty of opportunities to stuff the stat sheet.

Joe Wieskamp, Iowa ($6,000) - Wieskamp entered the season with massive expectations. Through three games, he's averaging 10.3 points, five rebounds, two assists, and two blocks/steals. His numbers are slightly down from a season ago mainly due to his poor shooting. As a freshman last year, Wieskamp made 48.8% of shots. Through three games, he's making just 37.5% of his attempts. He's in prime position to jumpstart his season on Thursday night against North Florida's struggling defense.

Jack Nunge, Iowa ($3,900) - After contributing virtually nothing in the Hawkeyes' first two games (two points, two assists, and rebound in total), the starting forward was encouraged to be aggressive by head coach Fran McCaffery. Nunge responded with 14 points, 10 rebounds, and two assists in 27 minutes of action against Oral Roberts in Iowa's third game of the season. He's a risk, but he has plenty of upside for only $3,900.
