College Basketball Daily Fantasy Helper: Monday 12/2/19

Isaiah Stewart and the Washington Huskies are in an outstanding spot, who else should we be targeting on Monday night?

College basketball season is upon us, and we have a four-game slate tonight.

March Madness is months away, but you can get in all the college hoops hype by playing daily contests at FanDuel today. If you've played NBA DFS before, it's quite simple: pick a total of eight players -- four guards, three forwards and one utility spot you can use for either position. Stay within the $50,000 salary cap and field the team you think will score the most fantasy points.

Where scoring differs from NBA is in the blocks and steals categories, with each worth two FanDuel points apiece rather than the three you get in daily NBA contests.

Now that you're in the know, we can attack today's main slate, which locks at 7:00 p.m. EST.

Which players should you be targeting, and why?

Guards

Cartier Diarra, Kansas State ($7,100) - Diarra is one of the best two-way players in the Big 12 Conference. Due to his ability to rack up steals, he has one of the best floors on this slate. The Kansas State Wildcats' guard has topped 22.8 FanDuel points in all six games this season.

Andres Feliz, Illinois ($6,700) - Feliz is averaging .935 fantasy points per minute. Due to three consecutive blowouts, Feliz has logged 26 minutes or less in those games. At his current price tag, the Illinois Fighting Illini guard will need to log around 29 minutes to pay off his current price tag (assuming 4x of the player's price tag is value). With Illinois installed as an eight-point favorite, Feliz's minutes should spike up. The senior recorded 34 minutes and 30 minutes in the Illini's first two competitive games of the season respectively.

Kameron McGusty, Miami ($6,200) - The Miami (FL) Hurricanes' guard leads the Hurricanes in field goal attempts while also logging the second-most minutes on the team. If the junior can start knocking down shots (shooting 37.9% from the field), his production will easily pay off his current price tag. The Hurricanes' opponent, Illinois, gave up 90 points in their only game against a power-five conference opponent (Arizona).

Stanley Umude, South Dakota ($6,100) - Umude has gone off in the South Dakota Coyotes last two games. The junior recorded 47.2 and 33.5 FanDuel points in those two games. While a matchup with the Washington Huskies is an obvious step up in competition, Umude should be able to post a solid fantasy stat line due to the ability to contribute in all five categories (points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks). He leads the Coyotes with 13.1 field goal attempts per game.

Trent Frazier, Illinois ($4,600) - The Illinois guard is coming off his best game of the season. Frazier scored 17 points, grabbed three rebounds, and recorded three assists in 22 minutes against Lindenwood. With a tightly contested game projected against Miami (FL) Hurricanes, Frazier should log heavy minutes. For his price tag and role, Frazier makes for one of the better value plays on the slate.

Forwards

Daniel Oturu, Minnesota ($7,900) - The Minnesota center has one of the highest upsides in college basketball. Oturu has eclipsed 43 FanDuel points in three games already this season. Oturu should play as many minutes as he can handle in a competitive matchup with the Clemson Tigers.

Isaiah Stewart, Washington ($7,000) - The highly touted freshman has lived up to expectations so far this season. The big man leads the Huskies in scoring (17.3 points per game), rebounding (6.7 rebounds per game), and blocks (1.8). An unimposing matchup against South Dakota (56th in Ken Pom's adjusted defense ranking) does not figure to slow Stewart down. He's recorded at least 25.5 FanDuel points in five out of six games

Nahziah Carter, Washington ($6,600) - The Huskies were hoping Carter would make a massive leap this season as Washington lost 80 percent of its' scoring from last season. The junior is the Huskies' second-leading scorer (15.3 points per game) and rebounder (6.3 rebounds per game) while leading the team in steals (1.8 steals per game). Look for Carter to score at least 13 points and grab seven rebounds for the third straight game.

Xavier Sneed, Kansas State ($6,400) - Sneed spurned the NBA to return to Kansas State for his senior season. The Wildcats' forward is averaging 14.5 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and two blocks/steals while rarely leaving the court (33.8 minutes per game). With a pace up game on tap against Florida A&M (Florida A&M is 129th in Ken Pom's adjusted tempo ranking while Kansas State is 201st), Sneed should have no problem stuffing the stat sheet.

Alihan Demir, Minnesota ($4,400) - There is not a lot of value on this four-game slate. However, Demir is one of the better cheap plays on the slate. In Minnesota's last game, the forward logged 30 minutes in a close loss to the DePaul Blue Demons. He scored 14 points, grabbed six rebounds, and recorded two assists in that game. Makol Mawien, Kansas State ($4,700) is also a solid value play at forward on this slate.
