College Basketball Daily Fantasy Helper: Monday 2/24/20

Taking on Oklahoma State, Udoka Azubuike and the Kansas Jayhawks are in a phenomenal spot. Who else should we be targeting on Monday night?

College basketball season is in the middle of conference play, and we have a four-game slate tonight.

March Madness is a month away, but you can get in all the college hoops hype by playing daily contests at FanDuel today. If you've played NBA DFS before, it's quite simple: pick a total of eight players -- four guards, three forwards, and one utility spot you can use for either position. Stay within the $50,000 salary cap and field the team you think will score the most fantasy points.

Where scoring differs from NBA is in the blocks and steals categories, with each worth two FanDuel points apiece rather than the three you get in daily NBA contests.

Now that you're in the know, we can attack today's main slate, which locks at 7:00 p.m. EST.

Which players should you be targeting, and why?

Guards

Devon Dotson, Kansas ($7,900) - Dotson is averaging an astounding 18.2 points, 4.0 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 2.2 steals/blocks in 34.9 minutes. The Kansas floor general is currently ranked first in KenPom's Player of the Year standings. He leads the Jayhawks with a 26.6% usage rate, and he's also taking 26.6% of the team's shots when he's on the floor, per KenPom (both lead the team). Dotson will be very popular, but he's well worth his expensive price tag.

Ayo Dosunmu, Illinois ($6,900) - Dosunmu is averaging .76 FanDuel points per minute. At that production clip, he is expected to pay off his price tag in 36.3 minutes of action. Dosunmu has played 36-plus minutes in six of the last seven games. Throw in a massive pace-up game for Illinois Fighting Illini as they host the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Illinois is 269th in KenPom's adjusted tempo ratings, while Nebraska is 32nd. The sophomore should have plenty of opportunities to make an impact on the stat sheet. If you're rostering Dosunmu, confirm that he's available prior to lock, as he's reportedly playing through an injury.

Marcus Garrett, Kansas ($6,800) - Garrett is one of the best two-way players in the country. As a result, he carries a stable floor due to his ability to contribute in every statistical category. The Kansas guard has topped 25 FanDuel points in eight out of the last nine games. Backcourt mate, Ochai Agbaji ($5,100), is also worth a look at a reduced price tag. Trent Forrest and Devin Vassell are also worth a look in Garrett's price range.

Courtney Ramey, Texas ($5,400) - Ramey has carried the offensive load for the Texas Longhorns over the last three games. In the last three games, the sophomore is averaging 20.7 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 3.0 steals in 35.7 minutes. While the matchup with West Virginia Mountaineers is brutal (2nd in KenPom's adjusted defense ratings), Ramey's cheap price tag hasn't fully adjusted to his recent production.

David Johnson, Louisville ($4,900) - Johnson has started each of the last two games for the Louisville Cardinals. The highly touted freshman owns a 28.2% usage rate, and he's taking 24.0% of the team's shots when he's on the floor, per KenPom. Johnson is averaging 22.85 FanDuel points over the last four games, which is more than enough to pay off his cheap price tag.

Jermaine Haley, West Virginia ($4,800) - Haley is averaging .77 FanDuel points per minute. At that production clip, he is expected to pay off his price tag in 24.9 minutes of action. Haley has played 27-plus minutes in six consecutive games.

Other guards to consider (below $5,000): Trent Frazier, Thorir Thorbjarnarson, Alan Griffin, Andrew Jones, Miles McBride, and Taz Sherman (if he starts).

Forwards

Udoka Azubuike, Kansas ($7,800) - The throwback center is an elite rebounder and rim-protector. Throw in a 22.6% usage rate (per KenPom), and Azubuike possesses a solid floor with a sky-high ceiling. The seven-footer has topped 20 FanDuel points in six straight games, including three games with 43-plus FanDuel points. He's coming off a monster game against the Baylor Bears' stingy defense (3rd in KenPom's adjusted defense ratings). Azubuike recorded 23 points, 19 rebounds, and 3 blocks in 36 minutes.

Kofi Cockburn, Illinois ($6,700) - The freshman big man is a menace on both ends of the court. Cockburn is averaging 13.6 points (second on the team), 8.9 rebounds (leads the team), 0.7 assists, and 1.8 blocks/steals in 27.3 minutes. Up next is a matchup against the fast-paced and defensive-deficient Nebraska Cornhuskers. The Cornhuskers are 158th in KenPom's adjusted defense ratings. Oscar Tshiebwe ($7,000) and Jordan Nwora ($7,000) are viable alternatives, albeit slightly more expensive than Cockburn.

Derek Culver, West Virginia ($5,600) - Culver is a boom or bust play due to the wide range of minutes he plays. In the last three games, he played 12, 20, and 36 minutes. With a team-leading 26.6% usage rate (per KenPom), I'm willing to bet on Culver, as the matchup with Texas' thin frontcourt is ripe for the taking. I also like Dwayne Sutton ($6,200), who is priced between Cockburn and Culver.

Malik Williams, Louisville ($5,200) - The Louisville center has started the past two games. In his two starts, Williams is averaging 15.5 points, 11.0 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 1.0 blocks, and 1.0 steals in 27 minutes. With rotational mate Steven Enoch nursing an ankle injury (questionable), Williams may be forced to play a ton of minutes for the third straight game.

Other forwards to consider (below $5,000): Yvan Ouedraogo, Malik Osborne, and Steven Enoch (if he plays).
