FanDuel College Basketball Daily Fantasy Helper: Tuesday 3/1/22

March Madness is on the horizon, but you can get into college hoops today by playing daily contests at FanDuel.

If you've played NBA DFS before, college basketball DFS is similar. You pick a total of eight players -- four guards, three forwards, and one utility spot. Stay within the $50,000 salary cap, and field the team you think will score the most fantasy points.

The scoring settings differ from NBA in the blocks and steals categories; each is worth two FanDuel points, rather than the three you get in NBA contests.

Now that you're in the know, let's attack today's main slate. All betting lines come from NCAAB odds.

Guards

Johnny Davis, Wisconsin ($8,000) - Davis is up against a Purdue team that sits 107th in adjusted defense, per KenPom. He's averaging 20.5 points and 8.3 boards per night with a 32.3% usage rate that is 10.8 percentage points higher than anyone else's on Wisconsin, according to Sports-Reference. Davis has played at least 34 minutes in eight of his last nine games. Purdue had no answer for him in their meeting at Mackey Arena earlier this year as Davis torched the Boilers for 37 real-life points and 63.3 FanDuel points. He's my favorite high-salary guard on this slate.

Drew Peterson, USC ($7,700) - Peterson is another excellent high-end guard option. Southern Cal (218th in adjusted tempo) is in a massive pace-up spot against Arizona (6th). Peterson has logged at least 34 minutes in eight straight games, scoring at least 30.6 FanDuel points in five of the past six, with a spike game of 57.4 FanDuel points in that stretch. Arizona's 11th-ranked defense will be a stiff challenge, but the boost in pace and USC's 73.00-point implied total should make up for that.

Kerr Kriisa, Arizona ($4,500) - On the flip side of the 'Zona-USC clash, Kriisa is a low-salary way to get a piece of the Wildcats. The minutes are there as Kriisa has seen 29-plus minutes in four of his last five appearances. His FanDuel outputs have been all over the map, and that's exemplified by him amassing 11.9 and 44.0 FanDuel points in his last two games. In a matchup with a 150.5-point total and 4.0-point spread, Krissa has a good chance to turn his big minutes into solid production.

Davion Mintz, Kentucky ($4,500) - Mintz is another low-salary player who will likely get plenty of minutes. He's averaging 24.8 minutes per night for the season, and prior to getting only 19 minutes last weekend, Mintz had played at least 28 minutes in four consecutive games, including a pair of 38-minute outings when Kentucky was short-handed. UK is no longer short-handed, but Mintz should still see decent run. The matchup against Mississippi is a dandy. The Rebels are 104th in D, and the Wildcats hold a slate-leading 79.25-point implied total.

Forwards

Oscar Tshiebwe, Kentucky ($9,000) - Tshiebwe had a monster game in a tough matchup at Arkansas in Kentucky's last contest, going off for 62.6 FanDuel points. He could eviscerate Ole Miss tonight. The lone concern I have is blowout risk as UK is a 17.0-point home favorite. If the 'Cats are running away with it, coach John Calipari might take advantage of the chance to rest his star big man. But if the Rebels find a way to keep things competitive and force Tshiebwe to play his usual minutes, the ceiling is enormous.

Mark Williams, Duke ($7,500) - This feels point-chasey after Williams erupted for 49.9 FanDuel points in Duke's last game. While we can't expect that kind of output, Williams is in a smash spot against Pittsburgh in a game in which the Blue Devils boast a 76.00-point implied total as 15.0-point road favorites. Williams has pulled down at least 10 boards in three of the last four games and should have no trouble with Pitt's 137th-ranked defense. However, as is the case with Tshiebwe, blowout concern is very real.

Moussa Diabate, Michigan ($4,700) - Diabate has flashed a ceiling that's hard to find at this salary. The big-time recruit has gotten at least 28 minutes in five of Michigan's last six games, and while his FanDuel outputs can vary wildly, he is capable of being a slate-changing performer. Three games ago, he put up 39.6 FanDuel points, and the Wolverines have a 73.25-point implied total at home versus Michigan State. I like Diabate as a salary-saving play.

Mason Gillis, Purdue ($4,200) - We can buy the dip here on Gillis. He had a dud performance last time out, generating only 7.4 FanDuel points in a game in which he dealt with foul trouble. For the most part, Gillis has been a very steady player for the Boilers, and he's played at least 28 minutes in five of Purdue's past six games prior to his foul-plagued affair last weekend. Gillis' DFS outlook gets a lift from a Purdue-Wisconsin matchup that has a 144.5-point total and 2.5-point spread.
