College Basketball Betting Guide: Monday 2/13/23

College basketball is one of the more entertaining sports to bet on due to the sheer volume of games that take place each day. The season is heating up as conference play winds down, and this is a great time to hone your betting prowess before March Madness.

Using our projections as a guide, which bets should you make via the college basketball odds at FanDuel Sportsbook?

Alabama A&M at Arkansas Pine-Bluff

Over 136.5 (-108)
Arkansas Pine-Bluff -3.5 (-104)
Arkansas Pine-Bluff Moneyline (-172)

This is a clash between two of the nation's worst teams as Alabama A&M and Arkansas-Pine Bluff sit outside the top 300 in all of nERD, KenPom and Barttorvik. There's some betting value, though.

The total is the priority for me. These two slot in 70th and 68th in adjusted tempo, according to KenPom, so we should get plenty of possessions. Our model projects 141.7 points to be scored. Barttorvik projects a total of 141 points. There's a good amount of wiggle room between those numbers and the 136.5-point total. We have the over cashing 61.7% of the time.

There are also reasons to back Arkansas-Pine Bluff to cover as a 3.5-point favorite. KenPom, Barttorvik and nERD each have the Golden Lions as the slightly better squad, with our nERD metric ranking them 302nd, compared to a ranking of 328th for Alabama A&M. Arkansas-Pine Bluff has covered in 7 of their last 10 games and will be at home tonight. Our algorithm gives the Golden Lions a 58.4% chance to cover.

If you don't want to mess with the spread, you can take Arkansas-Pine Bluff to win. The -172 moneyline implies win odds of 63.2%. We think they prevail 73.1% of the time, and Barttorvik gives them win odds of 71.0%. I prefer the moneyline to the spread.

Drexel at Hofstra

Under 134.5 (-105)

Drexel and Hofstra tangle tonight, and the under checks a few boxes.

The Dragons are one of the country's slowest-paced teams, ranking 332nd in KenPom's adjusted tempo. Hofstra is closer to average in pace, sitting 185th. In short, the pace should be pretty slow in this one.

The Pride and Dragons are pretty respectable on D, too -- (ironically) ranking right next to each other in KenPom's adjusted defense at 134th and 135th.

Drexel games have gone under in four of the Dragons' past six contests, and four of those games had a total of 133.0 or lower. The under is 3-1 in Drexel's last four road affairs.

Our model projects there to be 128.1 points. Barttorvik has the projected total at 131 points. The under is the side to be on.
