5 Must-Watch Games on College Football's Opening Weekend

#5 LSU Tigers vs. Wisconsin Badgers

This afternoon matchup between two traditional powerhouses won't light up the scoreboard as much. Both squads sport solid defenses, and the Badgers were particularly elite last year, as they led the nation in opponent points per game (13.7). The LSU defense wasn't any worse for wear as they surrendered a respectable 22.4 a week.

The over/under of 44.5 total points is surely a byproduct of the defensively strong teams. However, it might even be a little on the high side because neither team is expected to have anything resembling a top notch offense. With 30.3 points and a hair over 180 passing yards per game a year ago, LSU was the better attack last year. That's really not saying much as the Badgers accounted for a dismal 26.8 points with just 228 passing yards per game.

At least going into the season, there isn't much hope that those numbers will improve. Unless Brandon Harris takes a step forward, LSU will lean on star running back Leonard Fournette -- much like they did to the tune of 300 carries a season ago. And Wisconsin isn't any more promising. Their starting quarterback, Bart Houston, will be making his first career start, and Wisconsin is known for their rush-first offense.

The Tigers are a 10.5-point favorite, but Wisconsin is likely to hang around. After all, it's not like LSU has the type of offense to blow the game wide open. There's even a chance that if Fournette is bottled up, Wisconsin's outstanding rush defense (fourth in yards allowed per rush last season), riding the energy of Lambeau Field, could help pull an early upset.
