College Football Daily Fantasy Helper: Thursday 10/10/19 Main Slate

Caleb Evans and the Louisiana-Monroe offense are in a great spot Thursday night. Which other players should have a big night?

Week 7 of college football is here! FanDuel's Thursday night college football DFS main slate includes two games.

In case you're unfamiliar with how it works, you can check out the rules and scoring on FanDuel, where you can hit the lobby each week to see the full array of slates and contests being offered.

As for the basics, your roster consists of a quarterback slot, two running back slots, three wide receiver slots (which also includes tight ends) and one super flex slot. In the flex, you can insert one player from any position, including quarterbacks.

Here, our goal is to help you field a roster full of fantasy goodness, and in true numberFire fashion, we'll use our in-house projections as well as betting totals and advanced statistics to tackle as many slates as possible in the lead-up to the College Football Playoff. This week, we are only breaking down Thursday's main slate, which locks at 8:00 p.m. EST.

Let's breakdown which players are in great spots as well as identify some players with cheap price tags that will allow you to roster the high dollar players.

Quarterbacks

Caleb Evans, ULM (10,500) – The senior quarterback is averaging 234.4 passing yards, 57.2 rushing yards, and 3 total touchdowns per game this season. The dual-threat signal-caller accounted for eight touchdowns combined in matchups with the Memphis Tigers and Florida State Seminoles. He should have no problem posting a massive stat line against the Texas State Bobcats, who are allowing nearly 30 points and 410.6 yards per game.

Tommy DeVito, Syracuse (9,200) – This should be a great spot to target the sophomore signal-caller. This week’s opponent, the North Carolina State Wolfpack, has allowed an average of 307 yards passing per game over the last three games. The Wolfpack are also without their top cornerback this week. DeVito has tossed four touchdowns in each of the Syracuse Orange's last two games. And through five games this season, he’s averaging 246.8 yards passing per game. DeVito is probable for this week’s game after sustaining an upper body injury in the team’s last game (verify that he’s playing before rostering).

Gresch Jenson, Texas State (7,500) – Jenson operates the Texas State Bobcatsair raid offense. In four starts, Jenson has only thrown for 961 yards and 4 touchdowns. However, this week’s matchup with Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks should allow Jenson to flourish. The Warhawks are allowing nearly 40 points per game, and they’re surrendering 506.8 total yards per game.

Others to consider: Bailey Hockman

Running Backs

Josh Johnson, ULM (8,700) – Johnson leads the Sun Belt Conference with 598 yards rushing (includes games with Memphis, Iowa State, and Florida State). The junior running back has four rushing touchdowns and averages 7.1 yards per carry in five games this season. This week’s matchup with Texas State is phenomenal -- the Bobcats are allowing are 257.5 rushing yards per game.

Caleb Twyford, Texas State (8,200) – Twyford has 294 yards rushing and 96 yards receiving (2 total touchdowns) in five games this season. The versatile junior running back is averaging 105 yards rushing on 22 carries in the Bobcats’ last two games. Look for Twyford to take advantage of Louisiana Monroe’s 126th ranked rush defense (allowing 259.5 rush yards per game). His outlook will further improve if backfield mate, Anthony D. Taylor, misses his second straight game. Taylor’s status is unknown at this point.

Zonovan Knight, North Carolina State (7,900) – The freshman, Knight, leads the Wolfpack with 293 yards rushing on 54 carries; he’s also run for 3 touchdowns. Prior to the season starting, Knight was pegged as a potential star in the making. He’ll get plenty of opportunities this week as he’s expected to carry the load alongside Justin Houston (who's also a good play on this slate).

Others to consider: Moe Neal, Justin Houston

Wide Receivers

Trishton Jackson, Syracuse (9,600) – Jackson formed a good rapport with quarterback, Tommy DeVito, during spring practice. That connection has paid off as Jackson leads the Orange with 24 receptions for 393 yards and 5 touchdowns. The junior wide receiver has monster upside as there have been two games in which he caught at least 6 passes, cleared 140 yards receiving, and scored 2 touchdowns.

Emeka Emezie, North Carolina State (8,600) – The Wolfpack’s quarterback change to Bailey Hockman paid immediate dividends for Emezie as he caught his first touchdown pass of the season in last week’s loss to Florida State. Hockman will start this week as the Wolfpacks’ coaching staff is hoping to unlock the team’s downfield passing game. That should benefit the sophomore receiver, who had three touchdown receptions that went for over 30 yards a season ago.

Josh Pederson, ULM (8,400) - Pederson is the Warhawks' top receiver as he’s caught 23 passes for 283 yards receiving and 5 touchdowns this season. The tight end enters this week’s game with a touchdown reception in four straight games. Oh, and another interesting fact about Josh Pederson: his dad is Philadelphia Eagles head coach Doug Pederson.
