College Football Daily Fantasy Helper: Friday 10/16/20

Week 7 of college football is here! FanDuel's Friday night college football DFS slate includes two games.

In case you're unfamiliar with how it works, you can check out the rules and scoring on FanDuel, where you can hit the lobby each week to see the full array of slates and contests being offered.

As for the basics, your roster consists of a quarterback slot, two running back slots, three wide receiver slots (which also includes tight ends) and one super flex slot. In the flex, you can insert one player from any position, including quarterbacks.

Here, our goal is to help you field a roster full of fantasy goodness, and in true numberFire fashion, we'll use our in-house projections as well as betting totals and advanced statistics to tackle as many slates as possible in the lead-up to the College Football Playoff. This week, we are only breaking down Friday night's slate, which locks at 6:00 p.m. EST.

Let's breakdown which players are in great spots as well as identify some players with cheap price tags that will allow you to roster the high dollar players.

Quarterbacks

Shane Buechele, SMU (10,200) – The senior gunslinger has topped 300-yards passing in three out of the first four games in 2020. He's tossed nine touchdowns in the last three games. He's in a fantastic spot on Friday night as the Southern Methodist Mustangs square off with the Tulane Green Wave. Tulane is allowing 9.04 yards per pass attempt which is 11th most nationally.

Zach Wilson, Brigham Young (10,000) – Wilson is putting up video-game-like numbers as the Brigham Young Cougars starting quarterback. He ranks seventh nationally in points responsible for (21.0). Through four games, the junior signal-caller is posting game averages of 310.3 passing yards, 15.0 rushing yards, and 3.5 total touchdowns. His ceiling is sky-high as Brigham Young squares off with a Houston Cougars defense that surrendered 53 total touchdowns in 2019.

Michael Pratt, Tulane ($8,200) – Pratt will make his second career start as the Green Wave travel to SMU. He's an intriguing prospect due to dual-threat ability and cheap price tag. In nearly two games of action this season, the freshman has thrown for 283 yards and 3 touchdowns. He's also tallied 31 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns on the ground. SMU is allowing nearly 250 passing yards and they've surrendered 8 passing touchdowns, which is a slate high.

Others to consider: Clayton Tune.

Running Backs

Ulysses Bentley IV, SMU ($9,700) – Bentley IV has 7 rushing touchdowns and is averaging 103.0 rushing yards despite sharing the backfield with TJ McDaniel. With McDaniel sustaining a season-ending injury in the Mustangs last outing, Bentley is set up to dominate the carries moving forward for SMU. On tap is a matchup with Tulane's vulnerable run defense. The Green Wave have allowed eight rushing touchdowns in only four games, which are easily the most of the four teams playing on Friday night.

Tyler Allgeier, Brigham Young ($9,100) – Allgeier leads the Cougars in carries (53), rushing yards (391), and rushing touchdowns (4). The sophomore has received at least 10 carries in all four games this season. He's averaging 7.38 yards per carry which ranks 10th nationally. Look for him to take advantage of Houston's run defense which surrendered 24 rushing touchdowns in 12 games in 2019. Backfield mate, Lopini Katao, is also a fine play.

Cameron Carroll, Tulane ($7,900) – The sophomore running back ranks third nationally with seven rushing touchdowns (also has one touchdown reception). He's run for 285 yards on 54 attempts. On tap is a date with SMU's defense that has looked vulnerable. The Mustangs are allowing 164.3 rushing yards to opposing backfields which is by far the most out of the four teams playing on Friday night.

Others to consider: Lopini Katao, Amare Jones, and Stephon Huderson.

Wide Receivers

Gunner Romney, Brigham Young ($8,800) – Romney is expected to play despite leaving last week's game early due to an injury. The junior has cleared 80 yards receiving in all four games this season. He's gone over the century mark in receiving yards in three of those games. On tap is a matchup with Houston's questionable pass defense. The Cougars were torched for 29 passing touchdowns in 12 games a season ago. Romney's teammate, Dax Milne, is also a phenomenal play at a slightly cheaper price tag.

Rashee Rice, SMU ($7,700) – The Mustangs will need Rice to step up with star wide receiver Reggie Roberson Jr. set to miss the rest of the season. The young wide receiver flashed his enormous upside over the last five guys in 2019 with Roberson Jr. sidelined. Over those final five games, Rice had 17 receptions, 299 receiving yards, and 1 touchdown. Slot wide receiver Danny Gray is a solid play as well. He was a highly regarded junior college transfer prospect heading into this season.

Kylen Granson, SMU ($6,500) – Like Rice, Granson is priced as if Reggie Roberson Jr. is playing. With Roberson Jr. sidelined over the final five games in 2019, Granson became quarterback Shane Buechele's security blanket. The SMU tight recorded 21 receptions, 366 receiving yards, and 6 touchdowns within those five games sans Roberson Jr.

Others to consider: Marquez Stevenson, Danny Gray, Dax Milne, Keith Corbin, Jha'Quan Jackson, and Tyler Page.
