College Football Single-Game Daily Fantasy Helper: Wednesday 10/19/22 (Georgia State at Appalachian State)

Quarterback Chase Brice should light up the box score against Georgia State's vulnerable defense. Who else should we consider targeting?

The college football regular season rolls into Week 8 on Wednesday as the Georgia State Panthers square off with the Appalachian State Mountaineers.

For those unfamiliar, single-game slates feature five flex spots with identical scoring to the main slate. However, there is an "MVP" roster slot. The MVP receives 1.5 times his total fantasy points, making this spot crucial.

Player Breakdowns

At The Top

Chase Brice, Appalachian State ($15,000) - Brice ranks 8th nationally with 18 touchdown passes, and the senior quarterback is averaging 279 passing yards per game. He should thrive against Georgia State's vulnerable defense. The Panthers have surrendered 23 touchdowns to opposing offenses in six games. They rank 111th in total defense, allowing 438.3 yards per game.

Darren Grainger, Georgia State ($14,500) - Grainger has an enormous ceiling due to his dual-threat ability. The senior quarterback has recorded 12 touchdown passes through seven games. He has rushed for 303 yards and 3 touchdowns. He will be a very popular choice in the MVP slot.

Nate Noel, Appalachian State ($13,000) - Noel emerged as a playmaker for Appalachian State last season. As a freshman, Noel racked up 1,078 rushing yards and 4 touchdowns. His backfield mate, Camerun Peoples ($11,500), is questionable with an injury after missing Appalachian State's last game. If Peoples is unable to play, Noel would likely operate as the lead back. It is a phenomenal matchup for the Mountaineers' backfield. Georgia State ranks 106th in rushing defense, allowing 179.8 rushing yards per game. Peoples is a good play if he can suit up on Wednesday night.

In The Middle

Tucker Gregg, Georgia State ($12,000) - Gregg has found pay dirt in four straight games. During that time span, he has cleared 100 rushing yards in three games. Georgia State's lead running back is averaging 16.8 carries per game.

Christian Horn, Appalachian State ($10,500) - Horn leads Appalachian State in routes run this season (172). He is tied with Dashaun Davis ($9,500) for the team lead with 33 targets. Georgia State's defense could have its hands full defending the Mountaineers' deep threat. Horn has 428 receiving yards and 4 touchdown receptions through six games. Georgia State is allowing an eye-opening 8.08 yards per pass attempt.

Jamyest Williams, Georgia State ($10,000) - Williams has cleared 105 rushing yards and scored a touchdown in each of the last two games. He has 28 rushing attempts over the last two games despite splitting time with backfield mate, Tucker Gregg.

At The Bottom

Dalton Stroman, Appalachian State ($8,500) - Stroman ran 26 routes in the Mountaineers' last game. Additionally, when he is on the field, he is being targeted down the field (15.3 aDOT). At his current salary, one long reception would pay it off.

Ja'Cyais Credle, Georgia State ($7,500) - Credle operates as the third wide receiver in Georgia State's offense. He is averaging 6.0 targets per game over the last four games. Robert Lewis ($11,500) only ran five pass routes in the Panthers' last game. If he's unavailable on Wednesday night, Credle would become the best value option on the slate.

Kaedin Robinson, Appalachian State ($7,000) - Robinson is the third most targeted pass catcher amongst the Mountaineers (31). Additionally, he leads the relevant Appalachian State pass catchers with an aDOT of 17.1. I will note that Robinson did leave Appalachian State's last game early with an injury. His status is something to monitor pre-game. If he does play, he is under-salaried for his role.

General Notes

Injuries could really swing this single-game slate. As noted above, Appalachian State running back Camerun Peoples is questionable. If he is out, Daetrich Harrington ($7,500) is viable. Appalachian State could also be missing Kaedin Robinson and Christian Wells ($7,000). Wells has missed three straight games. He was starting at one of the wide receiver spots when he was available.

As also noted, Georgia State's second-leading wide receiver Robert Lewis only ran five routes in the Panthers' last game. I do not know if that was injury related or not. His status is worth monitoring pre-game.
