Saints release Latavius Murray
The New Orleans Saints released running back Latavius Murray.
The Saints reportedly asked Murray to take a pay cut on Monday and he refused. Murray, 31, rushed 146 times in each of his two seasons with the Saints while averaging 646.5 yards per game. Tony Jones is now the top backup to Alvin Kamara in New Orleans.
Murray finished 10th in Rushing Net Expected Points per carry out of 47 running backs with at least 100 carries last season. Jones finished the 2021 preseason as Pro Football Focus' No. 23 rusher out of 97 backs with 10-plus attempts.
