Jonathan Taylor (ankle) 'highly unlikely' returning for Colts
Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor was diagnosed with a high-ankle sprain and is "highly unlikely" to return this season, reports Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
Taylor injured his ankle on the opening drive of the Colts' 39-36 overtime collapse to the Minnesota Vikings on Saturday afternoon. The Colts are close to being knocked out of playoff contention, so it would be surprising to see Taylor return for one of the final three games. Zack Moss and Deon Jackson will handle backfield work moving forward, with Moss as the primary early-down back and Jackson handling passing-down work.
Moss ran 24 times for 81 yards and was targeted once in Week 15 while Jackson ran 13 times for 55 yards and caught a one-yard touchdown. The former played 53 of 79 (67%) offensive snaps and the latter logged 25 (32%) snaps on offense.
