Falcons' Desmond Ridder aiming to avoid 'trying to force things'
Atlanta Falcons quarterback Desmond Ridder told media members that "trying to force things" is "where you get in trouble as a quarterback" following the team's Week 1 win over the Carolina Panthers.
Ridder notably did not force things in Week 1, barely throwing the ball past the line of scrimmage against the Panthers. The second-year quarterback did note that his conservative play was related to the success the team was finding on the ground in that matchup, but his outlook on the quarterback position could be a major impediment to solid fantasy production for players like Kyle Pitts and Drake London.
Ridder averaged 3 intended air yards per pass attempt in Week 1, the lowest of any quarterback in the league. Pitts and London -- two early-round picks in fantasy drafts this year -- combined for just 4 targets in the season opener, making them very difficult to start in season-long lineups in Week 2.
