Mason Rudolph named Steelers' Week 16 starter
The Pittsburgh Steelers named Mason Rudolph their starting quarterback heading into their Week 16 game against the Atlanta Falcons.
Rudolph will get a crack at the starting job after the team struggled through two Mitchell Trubisky starts in Weeks 14 and 15. Rudolph was not a good quarterback the last time we saw him get extended reps back in 2019, but the team will hope that he has developed on their bench in the years since.
Back in 2019 we saw Rudolph attempt 283 passes as the primary backup after Ben Roethlisberger suffered a season-ending elbow injury. He completed 176 of those attempts for 1,765 yards, 13 touchdowns, and 9 interceptions for a mediocre 5.51 net yards per attempt rate. He'll have a tough first start of the year against a solid Atlanta Falcons defense.
