Myles Jack could start as Jaguars' strong-side linebacker
Jacksonville Jaguars rookie linebacker Myles Jack could begin his career as a strong-side linebacker.
Jack is likely Jacksonville's middle linebacker of the future, but he won't unseat veteran Paul Posluszny this season. With Telvin Smith entrenched as the weak-side linebacker, that leaves the SAM position for Jack in base sets. Still, his biggest early contribution will be in passing downs and sub-packages, where he and Smith could form one of the most athletic nickel linebacker combos in the league.
The Jaguars could use all the help they can get on defense. Their pass defense ranked third worst last season, according to numberFire's metrics. Our algorithms project Posluszny for 157.78 tackles and 2.39 sacks in 2016.
