Update: Josh Jacobs to become Packers' top back
New Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs could become the team's top rusher for the 2024 season following the release of Aaron Jones.
Jacobs initially inked his new deal with the Packers while Aaron Jones was still on the roster, which could have made for an exciting playmaking duo at the position. However, shortly after news of Jacobs' signing broke, the Packers announced the release of Jones, who will now become a free agent. Jones' release puts Jacobs in position to garner a heavy workload in the Packers' offense, especially after A.J. Dillon struggled to produce efficiently when given the chance last season.
Jacobs could work his way into an elite workload for fantasy in the 2024 season. The Packers' offense utilizes its balance to maintain efficiency in the passing and rushing attacks, and could open up better rushing opportunities for Jacobs than the Raiders' offense was capable of doing a season ago.
