Arizona Coyotes

Connor Murphy is another example of a victim to the 7-3-1 protection format to the NHL, whereas the Arizona Coyotes have too many assets to protect. Murphy is the first defenseman who is left available in the Arizona system, and he is the perfect choice for a second- or third-pairing player. Murphy, although finding himself in the penalty box often, shows promise in his growth, and he can become a viable puck-moving, stay-at-home defenseman. He has eight assists for the Coyotes this season, and has seen significant ice time in the Arizona lineup -- one that has been terrorized by higher-skilled teams all season.
