NHL Daily Fantasy Helper: Friday 2/2/18
A good chunk of you probably already play daily fantasy football, and I'd be willing to bet a significant portion have also tried out daily fantasy basketball and baseball. But hockey? Hockey?
It's time to give it a try over on FanDuel.com because it's a ton of fun. And our analysis and projections can help you win.
To help, take a look at some goalies, high-priced skaters, and lower-priced players to target for today's slate.
Goalie to Target
Scott Darling ($7,300): Assuming Cam Ward doesn't get the nod on the back-to-back, Darling makes for an interesting goalie option in GPPs. The Carolina Hurricanes' netminder hasn't started since January 21st, but tonight looks like a great spot for him to come in and play well. The Detroit Red Wings have the third-least Scoring Chances For per 60 minutes and High-Danger Chances For per 60 minutes in 2018, and Darling will have a disciplined team in front of him that doesn't take a many penalties. In GPPs as a -158 favorite, it's wise to take a chance on him.
High-Priced Skaters
Brent Burns ($7,400): Burns is by far the best option on defense, and he has posted some insane individual numbers over the last month. Since January 1st, Burns has a 25.1 individual Corsi For per 60 minutes, which leads all players on the slate by a wide margin. He gets a lot of time on the power play, and the Columbus Blue Jackets have the league's 27th-ranked penalty kill. Burns will be firing away and has as good of a chance as anyone to post multiple points.
Jeff Skinner ($5,700): Skinner's price isn't very restrictive on FanDuel, but he deserves a mention because, like Burns, the shot volume is there, but he isn't seeing the results. He has an individual Corsi For per 60 minutes near 20 since the start of January, but only three goals to show for it. Against the Detroit Red Wings, who have surrendered the 10th-most Scoring Chances Against per 60 minutes over the last month, Skinner has an excellent chance to find the back of the net.
Value Skaters
Andre Burakovsky ($3,500): While targeting the Pittsburgh Penguins hasn't been the most appealing strategy lately, Burakovsky is much too cheap for his current situation, as he is skating on the second Washington Capitals line and getting power-play time. He has points in back-to-back games and has a 15.6 individual Corsi For per 60 minutes in 2018. At the very least, Burakovsky is worth a tournament flier at near-minimum price on FanDuel.
Brad Hunt ($3,600): Hunt will be very low-owned in tournaments but has a sneaky-good matchup against the Minnesota Wild. If you need a punt defenseman, Hunt is your guy, as he has a 15.2 individual Corsi For per 60 minutes over the last month and is on the second power-play unit against a Wild team that has been short-handed the second-most times in the NHL this year.
