NHL Daily Fantasy Helper: Monday 3/4/19

Connor McDavid offers massive upside in a great matchup against Buffalo. Who else should you target on Monday's two-game slate?

A good chunk of you played daily fantasy football this year, and I'd be willing to bet a significant portion have also tried out daily fantasy basketball and baseball. But hockey? Hockey?

It's time to give it a try over on FanDuel, because it's a ton of fun. And our analysis and projections can help you win.

To help, let's take a look at some goalies, high-priced skaters, and lower-priced players to target for today's slate.

Goalie to Target

Mikko Koskinen ($7,600): The Edmonton Oilers are projected to start Koskinen against the Buffalo Sabres on Monday night. Koskinen has performed better of late with three quality starts and a shutout in his last four games. He could see a lot of pucks come his way as Buffalo attempts to bounce back after another loss. Since Cam Talbot was traded, Koskinen has sported a .923 save percentage and has looked like the early season version of himself. Carter Hutton is a decent secondary option at $7,300, though that matchup has more variance.

High-Priced Skaters

Connor McDavid ($9,100): McDavid playing against the Buffalo Sabres is almost unfair. He has 20-plus FanDuel points in each of his last two contests. Buffalo comes limping in, allowing 20 goals in their last five games. Edmonton has only allowed 11, but we can expect this to be a high-event game. Buffalo cannot match Edmonton's top line and vice versa. Jack Eichel ($8,400) and Auston Matthews ($8,100) make great secondary options due to high floors on Monday night.

Mitchell Marner ($8,200): Marner is on a tear with double-digit FanDuel points in his last five games and at least 27 in three of those contests. He and the Toronto Maple Leafs draw a pretty good matchup against the Calgary Flames, who allow 3.19 goals per game at home. That includes giving up four to the Minnesota Wild on Saturday night. Goaltending has been shaky for the Flames, and one never knows when Mike Smith or David Rittich will melt under the pressure. Leon Draisaitl ($8,500) and Jeff Skinner ($7,400) are other prime goal-scoring options on Monday.

Value Skaters

Josh Currie ($3,500): Currie plays just 11-12 minutes a night but has produced four real-world points in seven games since his call-up for Edmonton. He has double-digit FanDuel points in his last two contests and gets a good matchup against the depth of the Sabres bottom six. Risk is moderately high for Currie so if one feels a bit leery, they can spend up for Zack Kassian ($4,300) who does play with Connor McDavid currently. Also, there is Sam Gagner at $3,400 for another punt choice.

Travis Hamonic ($4,000): Hamonic is a floor play against Toronto on Monday night, averaging around 2.5 shots and 2.5 blocks per contest over his last six games. Toronto also allows about three goals per game. However, the over has hit in five straight contests along with four of those games including 65-plus combined shots. That means there will be more chances for Hamonic to hit the net. Nikita Zaitsev ($3,500) is a minimum priced play on Monday along with Zach Bogosian. They are ways to save money and could provide a few FanDuel points as well.
