NHL Daily Fantasy Helper: Monday 4/1/19

A good chunk of you played daily fantasy football this year, and I'd be willing to bet a significant portion have also tried out daily fantasy basketball and baseball. But hockey? Hockey?

And our analysis and projections can help you winTo help, let's take a look at some goalies, high-priced skaters, and lower-priced players to target for today's slate.

Goalie to Target

Henrik Lundqvist ($7,400): The New York Rangers will start Lundqvist versus the New Jersey Devils on Monday night. The New York goalie should see an elevated number of shots as the Rangers are not rested and are among the worst penalty kills in the NHL. Lundqvist is again cheap because of who he plays for. New York allows 3.77 goals per game on the road. Elsewhere, Robin Lehner ($8,200) is fairly priced and up against a Toronto Maple Leafs team that generates 30-plus shots a game and can be dangerous on the road (22-12-5 record). Also, watch to see if St. Louis starts Jordan Binnington against the Colorado Avalanche. This should be a high-event game, which has driven Binnington's price down by several hundred dollars.

High-Priced Skaters

Connor McDavid ($9,300): McDavid heads to Vegas to face the Golden Knights. With Malcolm Subban still starting in net for an injured Marc-Andre Fleury, goals are expected from the Edmonton Oilers' top line. That means Leon Draisaitl is in play, as well, as Edmonton's top line generates the most scoring chances per 60 in the Western Conference among top trios. McDavid has 114 real-world points in 74 games, which includes 10 special-teams goals. The Edmonton center had a rare off night with no assists or goals over the weekend. However, he did have four scoring chances, including three high-danger ones. Vegas has allowed 17 goals in their last five contests, and McDavid is one of the few forwards who is almost matchup proof. There are quite a few center options on Monday, and another one who sticks out is Mika Zibanejad ($7,200). He has eight real-world points in three meetings with New Jersey this year.

Vladimir Tarasenko ($7,700): Tarasenko has been piling up chances and shots, firing 27 shots on goal on nearly 50 attempts in his previous seven games. Colorado features a road penalty kill just above 77% while the St. Louis Blues have inched their power play up above 20%. The Blues are worth a line stack on Monday night, though they are expensive ($20,100). A way to differentiate that a bit is to take off one of the forwards and pair them with Vince Dunn. Either way, Tarasenko generates too many prime chances to pass up. Patrick Kane ($8,700), Leon Draisaitl ($8,400), and Nikita Kucherov ($9,200) are all also in favorable matchups on Monday.

Value Skaters

Casey Cizikas ($3,700): Cizikas is a fourth-line play. That is correct. He is a 20-goal scorer from the fourth line. Toronto will have their hands full with the Islanders as it is, but Cizikas has the ability to take advantage of the limited chances he gets. He's done that all year, averaging just over 1.5 shots per game. The good news is he blocks nearly a shot per contest, as well, which does help his floor. Value centers are a bit hard to come by on Monday night. Chris Tierney ($3,600) is up against a Tampa Bay Lightning team that just allowed six goals to the Washington Capitals. Ottawa should generate some chances.

Blake Coleman ($4,000): Coleman goes up against the Rangers, and he did score in their last meeting. The forward still is priced at a value rate and has hit or exceeded value in three of his last four starts. New York has a penalty kill just below 78% on the road and gives up nearly 38 shots per 60 minutes since January 1st. Henrik Lundqvist has lost four straight starts -- allowing 15 goals in the process. Coleman also has 11 shots and five blocked shots across his last four games, which creates a nice floor. Colin Wilson ($3,300) is a high-risk bottom-six play today versus St. Louis.
