NHL Daily Fantasy Helper: Monday 4/22/19
A good chunk of you played daily fantasy football this year, and I'd be willing to bet a significant portion have also tried out daily fantasy basketball and baseball. But hockey? Hockey?
It's time to give it a try over on FanDuel because it's a ton of fun.
And our analysis and projections can help you win. To help, let's take a look at some goalies, high-priced skaters, and lower-priced players to target for today's slate.
Goalie to Target
Petr Mrazek ($7,700): Mrazek expects to start on Monday night against the Washington Capitals in an elimination game. Carolina was blitzed by the Capitals in Game 5 to the tune of a 6-0 rout. This series has almost fallen into a predictable pattern. The expectation is that Carolina will bounce back behind the home crowd and with the long line changes. Mrazek allowed just one goal in the first two home games in Carolina, however, there is a little concern with Washington sensing Carolina fear. Fortunately, the Hurricanes have played like a different team at home, so Mrazek has more than a puncher's chance. Washington has an implied total of just two goals
High-Priced Skaters
Tyler Seguin ($8,400): Riding the Dallas Stars and their top line over the weekend proved to be quite profitable. They scored three times in all and Seguin had two points himself. The center also had eight shots on net and five scoring chances. At least three of those were high-danger opportunities. The question is, does Dallas keep with their strategy of picking on P.K. Subban? The expectation is that Dallas should fire at least 30+ shots on Pekka Rinne, and Seguin could attempt 10+ shots once again. Pickings are slim among centers, but Niklas Backstrom is one of the few that can perform well on the road.
Filip Forsberg ($7,100): Many will stack the top Dallas line, especially with Alexander Radulov. However, a contrarian shot lies in taking Forsberg and parts of the top line for Nashville. The winger had six shots, four scoring chances, and an assist on Saturday. Road scoring chances have been considerably lower, but in an elimination game no one knows what could happen. Could the power-play goal be a harbinger of things to come for the Predators? It is a possibility. And, as always, Alex Ovechkin ($9,000) is in play regardless of venue.
Value Skaters
Warren Foegele ($3,600): This is a huge risk, especially after Foegele delivered a bagel in Game 5. However, his price inched down to bargain-bin territory. Ownership may still be high, because Carolina has been a much better home team, but there's a chance he slips under the radar. He is an energy guy who can create chances with his hustle in puck battles. With less space, players like Foegele gain value, especially on what is just a two-game slate.
Rocco Grimaldi ($3,500): Forwards have scored just seven times for Nashville in this series, and Grimaldi has three of them. Despite playing fourth-line minutes, the winger has 12 shots on goal in his previous four games. Dallas has had a tough time slowing down the speedy winger, as his rush chances per 60 lead the Predators. This series has been a crazy one, and the fact that Nashville's hottest player is Grimaldi (three goals in four contests) is further proof that this first round has been unpredictable. Brian Boyle ($3,000) is a punt option on Monday night and could see some power-play time against Dallas.
