3 NHL FanDuel Values to Target on 10/23/19

Tyler Johnson has been promoted to the top line which makes him way underpriced. What other value plays should you be targeting?

If you follow the NHL, you already know all of the top players. Obviously, when playing DFS, these players will come at a high cost. In this article, we are looking to find the cheaper value plays to help you afford the superstars.

Tyler Johnson, Center, Tampa Bay Lightning

FanDuel Price: $4,900

This was a toss-up between Tyler Johnson and Anthony Cirelli, but I went with Johnson because he also plays on the power play. He's centering a line consisting of Steven Stamkos and Mathieu Joseph, as the Tampa Bay Lightning switched up their lines. This is actually good for Johnson because at least he gets to play with a big gun in Stamkos.

Johnson also plays on the second power-play unit with Yanni Gourde, Alex Killorn, Mikhail Sergachev, and Kevin Shattenkirk. While they do stack up their top unit, this still gives him opportunity with the man advantage and benefits him offensively. They take on the Pittsburgh Penguins who are on the tail-end of a back-to-back

Anthony Duclair, Winger, Ottawa Senators

FanDuel Price: $3,500

Anthony Duclair and the Ottawa Senators are playing the other team on the tail-end of a back-to-back tonight in the Detroit Red Wings. The Wings got blown out at home last night and now head to Ottawa, despite the short trip, it is still troublesome. Duclair is lining up on the top line with recently recalled forward Logan Brown and the ever-pesky Brady Tkachuk.

Jonathan Bernier is expected to be in net for the Wings, which is great for Ottawa. While the team struggles often, Bernier has been brutal this year. He has an ugly 3.02 goals against average and a .905 save percentage, which puts Duclair in a great spot tonight.

Mike Green, Defense, Detroit Red Wings

FanDuel Price: $3,700

On the other side of the Senators/Red Wings matchup, Mike Green is far too cheap. He plays on the second defense pair at even strength and the second power-play unit, which is a bit of a downgrade from the top unit. He is a shell of his former self with just 19 shots and 1 point in nine games, but the matchup is great.

The Senators have allowed 36.1 shots against per game, which is the second-most in the NHL, and allowed 3.50 goals against per game, which is the seventh-most in the NHL. The Senators have struggled defensively this season, and although the Wings are on the tail-end of a back-to-back, the Wings should be able to put some goals on the board.
