NHL Daily Fantasy Helper: Friday 11/1/19
A good chunk of you played daily fantasy football this year, and I'd be willing to bet a significant portion of you have also tried out daily fantasy basketball and baseball. But hockey? Hockey?
It's time to give it a try over on FanDuel because it's a ton of fun.
Our analysis and projections can help you win. To help, let's take a look at some goalies, high-priced skaters, and lower-priced players to target for today's slate.
Goalie to Target
John Gibson ($7,900): Gibson likely will face the Vancouver Canucks on Friday night. It was a bit of a tough go for the goalie, but he stopped 36 of 40 shots in a 7-4 win over the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday night. Vancouver has scored 17 goals in the last three games, but how long will that continue given Anaheim's ability to hold goals down at home (just over two a game). The Ducks are 5-1 overall at Honda Center and have won eight of their last nine contests going back to last season. Petr Mrazek ($7,500) is a cheap option for Carolina and has won each of his last 14 starts at home for the Hurricanes.
High-Priced Skaters
Nathan MacKinnon ($8,700): MacKinnon with cheaper linemates only makes him a more attractive choice on Friday night. He still averages nearly 21 FanDuel points per season and keeps piling on that point streak. MacKinnon has 14 shots and 12 scoring chances over the past three games. Jack Eichel ($8,500) and Brayden Point ($7,400) are good one-off options on Friday, or one could go down a hair to Nico Hischier in that middle-tier against the Philadelphia Flyers.
Alex Ovechkin ($8,700): The most chalky play of the night could potentially be the Washington Capitals, and yet there are ways to play them while stacking cheaply elsewhere. Ovechkin has 11 goals on 70 shots in 14 games. He also has seven assists and will block the occasional shot. He is still the best threat from "his office," and the Capitals return home after a long road trip. Even if they come out flat, Ovechkin just does not. He averages 4+ scoring chances a game over the past five starts. Evander Kane is another shot-volume producer from San Jose, and even Brock Boeser from Vancouver is worth considering.
Value Skaters
Joonas Donskoi ($4,000): Until Rantanen and Landeskog return to the lineup, Donskoi must keep being played until he is taken off that first line. The price is too low to pass up, and the winger has played 33 minutes over his previous two starts -- with a goal and two shots in each. Scoring chances are up to 2.5 per game over that span, as well. While Colorado has some nice value, do not forget Samuel Blais ($3,800), who is on the first-line and had several primary scoring opportunities in his last game (one goal). He just has to learn to hit the net more.
Nick Ritchie ($3,300): The forward has three assists in four games and is still playing at even-strength in the top-six currently. His price is low enough to toss him in as a punt play. Ritchie generates a couple scoring chances a game, and Vancouver is one of those teams which can have play tilted. Just ask Washington about that comeback. All kidding aside, Ritchie makes stacking possibilities easier on Friday. Wayne Simmonds is a moderate risk facing his former team tonight as well.
