NHL Daily Fantasy Helper: Wednesday 11/13/19

Alex Ovechkin is the spotlight in this five-game slate. so, who else can you trust in NHL DFS tonight?

A good chunk of you played daily fantasy football this year, and I'd be willing to bet a significant portion of you have also tried out daily fantasy basketball and baseball. But hockey? Hockey?

It's time to give it a try over on FanDuel because it's a ton of fun.

Our analysis and projections can help you win. To help, let's take a look at some goalies, high-priced skaters, and lower-priced players to target for today's slate.

Goalie to Target

David Rittich ($8,800): With the Dallas Stars picking up the shot totals over the past few weeks, Rittich becomes a good start for the Calgary Flames on Wednesday night. He took a tough loss in overtime allowing three goals on 28 shots to the St. Louis Blues on Saturday night. Before that loss, Rittich had piled up four straight wins which included a 43-save shutout. Another intriguing choice is Semyon Varlamov ($8,100) of the New York Islanders as they go up against a vulnerable Toronto Maple Leafs team that can at least still pile up shots.

High-Priced Skaters

Auston Matthews ($8,900): There is quite a drop in talent from Matthews on down to players like Evgeny Kuznetsov and even John Tavares on this night at the center position. Matthews is on fire of late as he has tallied nine real-world points in his previous four games. This includes a four assist, ten shot, seven scoring chance night against the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday. Without Mitchell Marner by his side, the center has taken it on himself to produce offense and he has done just that. His shots per game is now above four and his attempts are approaching seven per contest. Mathew Barzal ($6,500) is a good play tonight and averages over a point a game career against Toronto.

Alex Ovechkin ($9,000): Ovechkin is like fine wine. He just gets better as he ages. The left-winger averages five shots a game and is a constant threat in his office. He has 21 shots in his last three games off 30+ attempts on net. It is just a matter of time before the goals start coming again. Philadelphia will be a bit of a test as they allow the second least amount of shots per game (28.8) and rank seventh on the penalty kill (85.4%). If anyone can overcome those numbers, it is Ovechkin. Max Pacioretty ($7,100) is a solid choice going against a Chicago Blackhawks team that just yielded 57 shots to the Maple Leafs over the weekend.

Value Skaters

Casey Cizikas ($3,900): Toronto is still sputtering and Cizikas, a Toronto native, has to be considered in play tonight. He has four real-world points in his last three games. The center carries a good deal of risk because of his fourth-line ice time. However, he averages double-digit FanDuel points per contest career wise versus the Maple Leafs. There are not too many other centers in the bargain bin but Alexander Kerfoot ($4,200) does have 11 shots on net in his previous three games.

Nick Paul ($3,400): Paul has been getting basically top-line like ice time for the Ottawa Senators over the past several games. He has seven points overall on the season and has decent shot metrics too. In his previous five outings, Paul has three assists while averaging just over two shots per game and nearly three scoring chances a night. As long as the youth movement keeps going full bore in Ottawa, Paul is a value play almost every night. Dominik Kubalik ($3,400) is also a consideration given his shots per 60 is up with most top-six wingers despite his bottom-six ice time (2.5 shots per game overall).
