3 Daily Fantasy Hockey Stacks for 12/6/19

When playing NHL DFS -- much like MLB DFS -- stacking is key. Having multiple players from the same team, who correlate together, can give your lineup upside and help you maximize potential points.

You can roster up to four players from the same team in NHL, and you should look to have players from the same forward line or power-play unit together. Shared ice time is the key, as it will maximize their ability to contribute to real-life goals with each other, ultimately leading to more fantasy points for us.

Generally, we don't see late scratches in the NHL, and the team's lines are confirmed at practice or before the game. Two of the best resources for that are LeftWingLock.com or DailyFaceOff.com. That is where you can find updated forward and power-play lines for each team.

New Jersey Devils

The New Jersey Devils have the second-fewest points in the league, but they have the highest implied goal total on the slate tonight.

A 3.45 implied total is where we find the Devils, who are up against the Chicago Blackhawks, setting us up for a higher-scoring game. We have an over/under of 6.5 for this game, and going to this spot for a game stack is very viable tonight, so we'll get to the Blackhawks in a bit. The Devils are in the midst of an interesting season and have recently shaken things up with the firing of their head coach, changing their forward lines around greatly, all in an effort to jump-start the team. Due to the lines changing, we won't be able to get full ice-time correlation, but we get a ton of savings instead, so there is something.

Chicago are on the second night of a back-to-back and find themselves in the bottom three of the league in the main three defense categories we look at for potential fantasy production. Those categories are Corsi Against, expected goals against, and the number of High-Danger-Scoring-Chances allowed per 60 minutes. This is good, and we should look to the Devils' top line who have two players on the first power-play and one player on the second power-play. Those players are Nico Hischier ($5,600), Kyle Palmieri ($6,400), and Jesper Boqvist ($3,100). Some clear value here along with a solid matchup to attack.

New York Rangers

The New York Rangers are on the second night of a back-to-back, but they are facing a struggling Montreal Canadiens team tonight.

Montreal has lost nine of their last 10 games, allowing three goals or more in eight of these 10 games. A rough patch for them and one of those games was against the Rangers, where they allowed six goals. If they are giving up goals every single game, we want to continue to attack them in what should be a faster-paced game. By all means, you can also look to this spot for a game stack, as the over/under is also at 6.5.

The Rangers actually have a lower implied goal total compared to the Canadiens, but the ownership on them should be relatively equal. The Rangers' first power-play unit consists of Mika Zibanejad ($7,300), who has five points in five games since returning from his injury. Artemi Panarin ($8,100), who is averaging nearly three shots per game, along with four points in his last five games. Chris Kreider ($5,100) and Kaapo Kakko ($5,200), who aren't too expensive and need a bit of puck luck, which could come versus a weak defense.

Chicago Blackhawks

As mentioned above, the Chicago Blackhawks are in a good spot tonight and can look to them versus the Devils.

Both teams in this game are not good by most standards. They are both sitting at bottom-seven or worse when it comes to overall points this season, struggle on defense, but give us an opening for plenty of fantasy production. When push comes to shove, the Blackhawks have a better roster and are more of a threat offensively. Certainly, look to the Devils tonight, but don't pass on the Blackhawks with their implied total of 3.05 -- which is too low.

Patrick Kane ($8,400) is still one of the best players in the league, comes in with 22 shots and four points in his last five games, putting him in play any night. He is on the second forward line along with Alex DeBrincat ($5,700) -- who is too cheap tonight -- and up on the first power-play unit with Kane. Ideally, you would love to add Jonathan Toews ($6,000) to this stack to maximize their upside, and that can be done, but you might need to punt with Alexander Nylander ($3,600), who is on the first forward line along with the first power-play unit. Two players from the first line, two from the second line, who are all on the power-play together.
