5 NHL FanDuel Values to Target on 12/17/19

Torey Krug is far too cheap in an premium matchup tonight. Which other low-cost players could go off?

If you follow the NHL, you already know all of the top players. Obviously, when playing DFS, those players will come at a high cost. In this article, we are looking to find the cheaper value plays to help you afford the superstars.

Anthony Cirelli, Center, Tampa Bay Lightning

FanDuel Price: $4,500

With some injuries to the Tampa Bay Lightning, Anthony Cirelli is expected to play on the teams second line at even strength. This means he will be centered by Steven Stamkos with Alex Killorn on the other side. While Cirelli does not play on the team's top power-play unit, he is on the second unit.

The Lightning host an Ottawa Senators team that is on the tail-end of a back-to-back after getting smoked 6-1 by the Florida Panthers, so Tampa could thrive again.

Oliver Bjorkstrand, Winger, Columbus Blue Jackets

FanDuel Price: $4,800

Another team on a back end of a back-to-back is the Columbus Blue Jackets. They defeated the Washington Capitals at home last night and visit the Detroit Red Wings tonight. Oliver Bjorkstrand has been firing the puck at an insane rate as of late, with 43 shots over his last eight games -- an average of 5.38 per night.

Bjorkstrand is playing on a line with Gustav Nyquist and Boone Jenner at even strength, and this line remains in tact as part of the top power-play unit.

Morgan Rielly, Defense, Toronto Maple Leafs

FanDuel Price: $4,800

With Tyson Barrie manning the top power play, Morgan Rielly has been relegated to the second unit. This has definitely hurt his value, but he has more than enough offensive talent to make up for some of that lack of man-advantage time.

The price here is simply far too cheap for a defenseman with as much offensive prowess as Rielly has despite the demotion off the top power-play unit.

Torey Krug, Defense, Boston Bruins

FanDuel Price: $5,300

This is above my typical $5,000 threshold, but this price point is absurd for Torey Krug. He has 22 points in 29 games, along with 64 shots and 26 blocks. The Boston Bruins have a home matchup against a Los Angeles Kings team that is giving up 27.9 shots per game (first) but allowing 3.14 goals per game (20th).

Krug also plays on the top power-play unit with the offensive studs who make up the teams first line at even strength: Patrice Bergeron, David Pastrnak and Brad Marchand. Krug has elite upside in this matchup and is one of the best bargains on the slate.

Thomas Greiss, Goaltender, New York Islanders

FanDuel Price: $7,900

The price may seem high, but Thomas Greiss is listed as the ninth-most expensive goaltender, projected for the fifth-most points and comes in as the third-best point-per-dollar goalie on the slate, per our projections.

Greiss has been elite this season as he has put up an incredible 2.16 goals against average and a .932% save percentage. In this home matchup against a Nashville Predators team that is scoring 3.31 goals per game, the sixth-most in the NHL, Greiss shouldn't see gobs of ownership. It's a tough matchup, but he is certainly up for the task.
