3 NHL FanDuel Values to Target on 12/18/19
If you follow the NHL, you already know all of the top players. Obviously, when playing DFS, those players will come at a high cost. In this article, we are looking to find the cheaper value plays to help you afford the superstars.
Pavel Zacha, Center, New Jersey Devils
FanDuel Price: $3,300
Pavel Zacha kind of goes up and down the lineup as the New Jersey Devils seem to continuously change their lines. Tonight he lands on a line with Jack Hughes and Wayne Simmonds which is a decent line. The problem is Zacha gets very little opportunity on the power play, which is unfortunate.
The Devils will take on the Anaheim Ducks tonight — a team on the tail-end of a back to back which is beneficial. They'll likely have Ryan Miller in net and he has struggled this season with a 3.00 goals against-average (GAA) and a .908 save percentage (SV%)
Robert Thomas, Winger, St. Louis Blues
FanDuel Price: $4,100
Robert Thomas playing on the St. Louis Blues third line at even strength with Tyler Bozak and Alex Steen and this is a very solid third line. They have a home matchup against an Edmonton Oilers team that is 3-6-1 and really struggling as of late.
The Blues, on the other hand, are soaring and looking to repeat as Stanley Cup Champions. Thomas can be very hit or miss as he has just 16 points and 38 shots in 30 games, so the upside can be limited. However, on a short slate like tonight, getting a little weird and hitting can be a huge difference-maker.
Darnell Nurse, Defense, Edmonton Oilers
FanDuel Price: $4,300
Darnell Nurse is probably one of the most underrated assets in fantasy sports. He puts up solid points, solid shots and solid blocks which gives him not only a high floor but a high ceiling. So far this season, he has put up 17 points, 87 shots and 55 blocks in 36 games.
It would be nice if the Blues took more shots to really take advantage of the blocks potential for Nurse, but he can still rack them up on a good day. He also plays on the second power-play unit which gives him a bit extra offensive boost.
