NHL Daily Fantasy Helper: Wednesday 1/15/20

On a short two-game slate, is Sean Couturier worth a look against the Blues? Who else should you consider rostering on Wednesday?

A good chunk of you played daily fantasy football this year, and I'd be willing to bet a significant portion of you have also tried out daily fantasy basketball and baseball. But hockey? Hockey?

It's time to give it a try over on FanDuel because it's a ton of fun.

Our analysis and projections can help you win. To help, let's take a look at some goalies, high-priced skaters, and lower-priced players to target for today's slate.

Goalie to Target

Jordan Binnington ($8,600): The St. Louis Blues are expected to start Binnington on Wednesday night versus the Philadelphia Flyers. Binnington has won his last three starts while giving up just 5 goals on 71 shots. He faced just 23 shots in his most recent win against the high-flying New York Rangers. That is how much St. Louis can clamp down on opposing teams -- especially at home. With two of the more stingy teams in the league facing each other, expect shots to be at a premium here. Carey Price ($8,400) is another option if he starts for the Montreal Canadiens.

High-Priced Skaters

Sean Couturier ($6,800): The center performed against Boston the other night like he did most of last season. He had a goal, two assists, five shots on net, and four scoring chances in the wild shootout win. The center now has nine real-world points in his previous six games. St. Louis is a tough matchup, but the Philadelphia Flyers pivot should be able to generate a few chances. The Flyers' second line can be argued as their first line in theory. Just make sure there are no unexpected line shifts, as the Carter Hart injury caught many by surprise yesterday.

Patrick Kane ($8,200): Kane delivered a solid performance against the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday night, racking up 20.8 FanDuel points (two assists and three shots on goal). However, that does extend his goal drought to five games, which means inevitably the dam is about to break. Montreal allows 31.5 shots per game and almost 33 per 60 over their last 10 contests. With the Canadiens' penalty kill hovering around 75%, it might be a good time to look at Kane once more tonight. David Perron ($6,600) could be a decent choice from the Blues, as well. Also, Jonathan Toews ($6,600) could be a nice stacking option with Kane.

Value Skaters

Oskar Sundqvist ($3,700): Sundqvist is an extremely risky option from St. Louis, but he has been playing mostly in the top-six for them and occasionally produces some high-shot outputs. He has three-plus shots on goal and three-plus scoring chances in three of his last seven games started. Yes, his ice time is erratic, but remember this is a punt play in the truest sense. Michael Raffl ($3,200) is another value play to be considered, as well.

Ilya Kovalchuk ($4,200): Kovalchuk's up and down streaky nature has been on full display the last four games. If one follows the bouncing yo-yo, tonight could be a good night against a Chicago Blackhawks team that yields 35.3 shots per game (most in the NHL). Again, the winger had around 20 FanDuel points in two of his last four outings (20 and 19.7). Those were sandwiched by two games where he had just a couple shots on goal each. Again, the matchup looks like a good one. Philippe Myers ($3,500) is a floor alternative from the blue line for Philadelphia, averaging 10.4 FanDuel points per night in his last four games.
