5 NHL FanDuel Values to Target on 2/4/20

If you follow the NHL, you already know all of the top players. Obviously, when playing DFS, those players will come at a high cost. In this article, we are looking to find the cheaper value plays to help you afford the superstars

Nazem Kadri, Center, Colorado Avalanche

FanDuel Price: $5,200

Playing on the second line in Colorado will often get Nazem Kadri lost in the shuffle, but he has 17 goals and 32 points in 47 games, which is definitely acceptable from a second-line center. He provides needed depth for the Colorado Avalanche and has a role on the team's top power-play unit.

Kadri averages 2.66 shots per game, giving him a high floor. The Avalanche take on a Buffalo Sabres squad that started off the season very well but has hit a wall and is destined to once again miss the playoffs.

Ondrej Kase, Winger, Anaheim Ducks

FanDuel Price: $3,400

As I have mentioned before, Ondrej Kase is having a disappointing season after putting up 11 goals and 20 points in 30 games last campaign. There was hope that Kase would take a large leap forward, but with more injuries this season, his numbers have been underwhelming.

Kase has managed just 6 goals and 21 points in 46 games. However, he comes in tonight as the third-best point-per-dollar winger, per our projections. He has 7 points in his last 10 games, and a matchup against the Ottawa Senators is among the best spots on the slate.

Martin Necas, Winger, Carolina Hurricanes

FanDuel Price: $3,900

Most people will say, "Who?" when they hear the name Martin Necas, but he has had a quietly solid season for a winger who typically plays on the Carolina Hurricanes' third line. He has 12 goals and 27 points in 48 games. He also plays on the Hurricanes' second power-play unit, which gives him a bit more upside.

The matchup against the St. Louis Blues is certainly a difficult spot. But Necas is very cheap, and because he plays on the third line, he often gets a favourable matchup against other third lines. He plays with Erik Haula, which is a pairing that can generate some offense.

PK Subban, Defense, New Jersey Devils

FanDuel Price: $3,900

These two defensemen I am going to talk about are certainly priced significantly lower than anybody would have imagined heading into this season.

P.K. Subban has had an incredible fall from grace as the veteran defenseman is having -- by far -- the worst season of his NHL career. In 51 games, Subban has a paltry 5 goals and 11 points, which is worse than even his rookie season. While his speed is not where it used to be, he should be better than this.

Subban has a home matchup against the Montreal Canadiens -- the team that drafted him and chased him out of town -- so there will certainly be plenty of motivation for him. He is averaging about 2.5 shots per game with just over one block, so the floor won't kill you at this price.

Matt Dumba, Defense, Minnesota Wild

FanDuel Price: $3,800

Much like Kase above, Mathew Dumba had a very successful shortened season last year -- putting up 12 goals and 22 points in 32 games -- and many expected those kinds of scoring rates to carry over into this season. However, that has not been the case as Dumba has struggled with just 3 goals and 16 points in 51 games.

He still gets plenty of opportunity, averaging the second-most ice-time per game (22:41) on the Wild after ice hog Ryan Suter. Dumba is firing pucks on net at a higher rate than any other season of his career, other than last year, but his 2.4 percent shooting percentage is a far cry from his career clip of 7.6 percent. He's a fine dice roll at this salary.
