NHL Daily Fantasy Helper: Friday 2/7/20

A small four-game slate closes out the week on Friday. So, who can you trust in NHL DFS?

A good chunk of you played daily fantasy football this year, and I'd be willing to bet a significant portion of you have also tried out daily fantasy basketball and baseball. But hockey? Hockey?

It's time to give it a try over on FanDuel because it's a ton of fun.

Our analysis and projections can help you win. To help, let's take a look at a goalie, some high-priced skaters, and lower-priced players to target for today's slate.

Goalie to Target

Alexandar Georgiev ($7,200): The New York Rangers likely start Georgiev tonight against the Buffalo Sabres. Buffalo played last night and will not be rested, unlike New York. Georgiev last started on January 21st. Now, likely does not mean confirmed. It means one source said the goaltender expects to be the starter. In the last three starts, Georgiev has two wins, with 84 saves on 92 shots. The wins featured 70 saves on 74 shots. The Rangers allow nearly 35 shots per 60 at home, so even a non-rested Buffalo team could fire some shots on net. Watch to see who starts for the Columbus Blue Jackets or Dallas Stars as well.

High-Priced Skaters

Auston Matthews ($8,900): The Toronto Maple Leafs center has posted 12+ FanDuel points in eight straight games, which includes five in the 21+ range. That translates to ten real-world points and eight goals in that span on 41 shots and 29 scoring chances. Anaheim is another not rested team, as are all the road teams on Friday night. Matthews even averages nearly a block a game of late, which only adds to his very high floor. Also, Anaheim takes the third-most minors in the league (nearly 11 penalty minutes per game). That should bode well for the Toronto power play. Jack Eichel ($8,400) and Mika Zibanejad ($8,100) are viable secondary options.

Artemi Panarin ($8,200): A smaller slate will drive up ownership on Panarin. His production has slowed down over the previous five contests with just three real-world points. However, he still has 23 shots and 15 scoring chances in that span. Buffalo comes off a loss to the Detroit Red Wings of all teams last night, and their sub-73% road penalty kill can easily be attacked. Cam Atkinson ($7,000) could be a buy-low choice on Friday night against Detroit and their slate-worst penalty kill of 72% on the road.

Value Skaters

Robby Fabbri ($4,000): Playing with Dylan Larkin never hurts, and Fabbri benefited last night with a 20+ point FanDuel performance. Yes, Fabbri carries risk despite five real-world points in six games because of his low shot volume (1.5 shots per game). However, with a small slate, risks must be taken. Jimmy Vesey ($3,300) is a higher-risk value play going against his former team who did play well against Detroit last night.

David Savard ($3,500): The high-floor player has returned. He has just eight assists in 53 games, but his shots and blocked shots are rising. That floor stands at 29 shots and blocked shots in his last five games, which is an average of 5.8. That number equals value for a minimum-priced defenseman. Erik Gudbranson ($3,500) of Anaheim is another cheap choice with a moderately-high floor on Friday night.
