5 NHL FanDuel Values to Target on 2/27/20

If you follow the NHL, you already know all of the top players. Obviously, when playing DFS, those players will come at a high cost. In this article, we are looking to find the cheaper value plays to help you afford the superstars

Max Domi, Center, Montreal Canadiens

FanDuel Price: $4,900

Max Domi has certainly been disappointing this season when you consider that he had 72 points last season. He has just 42 this year and won't come close to repeating last season's offensive output.

He is playing on the third line at even strength with a role on the second power-play unit. Domi is playing a bit better as of late with six points in his last five games as the Montreal Canadiens take on a New York Rangers team that will be without the rookie goaltending phenom Igor Shesterkin

Tanner Pearson, Winger, Vancouver Canucks

FanDuel Price: $4,400

This is a premium matchup for Tanner Pearson and the Vancouver Canucks tonight as they visit the Ottawa Senators. Pearson is playing on a line with Bo Horvat and Loui Eriksson without having a role in the top power-play unit.

Pearson is having his best offensive season, though, with 42 points in 62 games which are just two shy of his career-high of 44 back in 2016-2017 as a member of the Los Angeles Kings. His shot rate is only slightly higher than normal, but will still set a career-high if he continues this pace which would land him at 196 shots.

Frank Vatrano, Winger, Florida Panthers

FanDuel Price: $3,800

It would be a much nicer role if Vincent Trocheck was still centering the second line, but Frank Vatrano will line up with Mike Hoffman and newly acquired Erik Haula. The Florida Panthers have a home matchup against their direct competition for the final playoff spot in the Atlantic Division, the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The Leafs have really struggled this season in their own end and their 3.27 goals against per game are the sixth-most in the NHL. In addition, the Panthers are fifth in the NHL in goals for, averaging 3.43 per game.

Matt Dumba, Defense, Minnesota Wild

FanDuel Price: $3,700

This has been such a disappointing season for Mathew Dumba after an incredible 30 games last year. Now, a large part of both the hype last year and the disappointment this season rides in his shooting percentage. Last year it was 12.9 percent, this year it is 2.6 percent, but his career average is 7.5 percent which is basically right in the middle.

Dumba isn't even on pace for 30 points which is a nightmare, but tonight is such an elite matchup that there is always hope for a breakout game. Dumba is average 2.47 shots per game and 1.32 blocks per game which gives him a decent floor. The Minnesota Wild play the Detroit Red Wings tonight, a team that is having an absolutely terrible season.

Tyson Barrie, Defense, Toronto Maple Leafs

FanDuel Price: $4,900

Jake Muzzin has a broken hand and will be out for four weeks and with Morgan Rielly already out, it will be even more Tyson Barrie on the Leafs back-end. This is interesting because Barrie is terrible in his own end but is definitely the number one option from an offensive standpoint on the Leafs defense.

Since December 1st, the Leafs have the best power play in the NHL, converting on 28.7 percent of their opportunities. He'll man the top unit, as expected, and this is a great matchup for the Leafs power play as the Panthers penalty kill has just a 73.8 percent kill-rate since December 1st.
