3 NHL FanDuel Values to Target on 3/9/20
If you follow the NHL, you already know all of the top players. Obviously, when playing DFS, those players will come at a high cost. In this article, we are looking to find the cheaper value plays to help you afford the superstars
Jakub Vrana, Winger, Washington Capitals
FanDuel Price: $4,700
Although he doesn't play on an even-strength line with Alex Ovechkin, Jakub Vrana has incredible upside, especially at this bargain price. Vrana is far and away the best point-per-dollar winger, as per our projections, in a road matchup against the Buffalo Sabres.
It has been this way for a while, but the Washington Capitals have adjusted their power-play units, and Vrana is locked and loaded on the top line. With just one point in his last five games, Vrana is in a bit of a slump. However, the Capitals lead the NHL in scoring with 3.49 goals per game on the road.
Neal Pionk, Defense, Winnipeg Jets
FanDuel Price: $4,500
Neal Pionk is having quite the coming-out party this season. He has a fantastic 44 points in 69 games this season and really took advantage of the Winnipeg Jets' early injury troubles on the back-end. Once he got going, he has not slowed down and is now the quarterback on the Jets' top power-play unit.
Tonight the Jets host the Vegas Golden Knights, a matchup that isn't ideal, but with the Jets trying to stay in the Wild Card hunt in the Western Conference, they need to come out flying. Despite having just six goals, Pionk has fired 168 shots on goal, which is 11th in the NHL among defensemen.
Chris Driedger, Goaltender, Florida Panthers
FanDuel Price: $7,500
The Florida Panthers have become pretty set on simply rolling with the goaltender they feel gives them the best chance to win, and thus, the best chance to make the playoffs. Despite Sergei Bobrovsky's massive contract, they have willingly rolled with Chris Driedger. Bobrovsky is currently dealing with a lower-body injury, but it will be very curious to see what happens if Driedger continues to win.
Driedger has an incredible 2.16 goals against average, and .936 save percentage, to go along with his 6-2-1 record. A road matchup against the defending Stanley Cup Champion St. Louis Blues is far from an ideal matchup, but at this point, Driedger has been good enough that he's worth rolling the dice with.
