3 NHL FanDuel Values to Target on 1/19/21

Adam Fox is on the first power-play unit for the Rangers and comes with a modest salary. Is he the best value on defense tonight?

Spending lower in any daily fantasy lineup is a way to incorporate some diversity into your roster. In NHL DFS, there is typically more value in this strategy but also a good deal more risk. This is especially true on tonight's larger slate, where there are lots of lower-salaried plays. Plugging in these options will afford you more chances to play some studs, as well.

Adam Fox, D, New York Rangers ($3,900)

With an implied goal total sitting at 3.26 tonight, the New York Rangers are a team to target in DFS.

The Rangers and defender Adam Fox check a few boxes. As a team, the Rangers are at home and have a strong implied goal total. As for Fox, he is on the first power-play unit, and he is under $4,000. All of those things are great to have on their own, but we are getting all four of them from Fox today. Through two games this season, he has skated for 21 minutes each time while racking up 4 blocked shots, 2 shots on goal, and a single real-world point.

He has a strong point-per-dollar play tonight and should allow you to pay up for some of the expensive skaters on the Rangers' top power-play unit.

Drake Batherson, W, Ottawa Senators ($3,400)

Drake Batherson's salary is simply too low for the role he plays on the Ottawa Senators.

Let's get one thing out of the way -- the Senators aren't great. We all know this. But it doesn't mean they don't have any viable DFS options. It's actually the opposite. Batherson is on the first forward line and the first power-play unit, yet he is only $3,400. The Senators are holding a solid 3.22 implied total and are up against the Winnipeg Jets, who are on the second night of a back-to-back. The Jets will also have their backup goalie, Laurent Brossoit, in net tonight.

Batherson is a very clear value play on a team that is expected to score some goals, and you should happily take the salary relief on a player with this kind of role.

Andrew Copp, W, Winnipeg Jets ($3,600)

With Patrik Laine still out for the Winnipeg Jets, they have some value at the top of their lineup.

The Jets played last night, and we saw Andrew Copp skate on the first forward line and second power-play unit, making him a fantastic value play today. The Jets are holding a very solid 3.28 implied goal total, and since the game has an over/under of 6.5 goals, this is a spot for a potential game stack.

On his own, Copp doesn't bring massive fantasy production, but he is skating on a line with Mark Scheifele and Blake Wheeler, two elite players. Copp can simply fall into some fantasy points via an easy goal or assist thanks to his linemates.
